Hello all. I have an 04 MT RX-8. Just spent the week swapping the engine that I was told lost compression to one I got off FB marketplace off a running car. Tried to start it tonight but is only cranking. Smell fuel, compression sounded decent when I had the plug out during cranking (also plug didn't come out wet so don't think it's flooded), just moved over my working BHR ignition and got new plugs to the new engine. Relatively newer TB as well. Fuel pump got replaced in 24 and worked fine. Just looking for any advice on what might be the culprit. Had the car for a few years but thought this might be best section to ask. Gas level did go from quarter to showing light, but no gas leaked and there should still be sufficient gas for starting regardless. No code thrown. Have read forums but my battery has sufficient voltage it's just not making sounds it would if it's about to start. Any help appreciated.
Also I don't think it would impact starting but am also leaking oil from the banjo bolt by the oil filter, any tricks to stop this can't get it much tighter?

 

double check grounds, harnesses esp the ones for the fuel injectors, and did you do the 20 brake stomp?

does it sound flooded? do you have spark?

did you hear the facespace engine run or are you taking someones word on it?

 

I did the pcm reset yes. It's not flooded as stated and I got it to start with starter fluid. Which grounds are for fuel injectors I have the one on the LIM and the center iron connected I thought that was all

Got engine running. Got the air out of the lines and put new fuel in and it started. Now working on getting oil filter oil line and oil filter pedestal mated and bolted to engine which is proving to be a pain

 

Hi - is it me, or is this the most useless hard to navigate website in the world. Cant find a thing, joined a couple of years ago - its pants, want to by some PZ shocks and go to meets but this and other websites are complete ****! **** I only thought EBAY was bad but this is a new level...........seems pointless being an RX8 owner on this platform - nothing is any good about this site!

 

this site is dead traffic wise but literally any question you can think of has been answered here 87 times and is pretty easy to navigate
