TX Hellooo, new member seeking advice.

Hello, everyone. To start off, I've owned my rx8 for just over a year and have been using this forum since then, but recently, I was in a front end collision that essentially totaled my car. I was wondering if any of you guys would help me consider my options. While I have someone that could repair the car, it would call for things beyond also pulling the frame to make it straight. I was thinking I could just buy a roller for relatively cheap to save time and just transfer my parts and avoid having to buy a new subframe. Thing is I would have to deal with selling my old car and registering the new one. I'm quite torn on this decision as this is my first rx8 and has been my baby from the start.

Essentially, would you just buy a roller or spend time and money repairing massive damage like that? Also, I'll post a couple pics of the damage shortly after, fyi.

it varies by state but the process of getting a salvage/R title is expensive, takes time and is a pita. plus your totaled car most likely wont ever be right and the already crap resale value will be a lot less. did the bags go off?

The airbags did not go off, and I'm quite aware of the change of the feel of the car after repair.
Also, I'd like to add that I didn't go through insurance for this accident, because like you said, salvage/R titles are expensive, and I also wasn't ever planning on selling the car unless a situation like this happened, so I'm not worried about the resale value.

It's an 05 with 93k miles. Last time I tested it was half a year ago and came out at ~80psi front and rear. Pretty bad but the car still ran fine and never gave me issues, and it really only had paint blemishes and the like. I'm in Dallas, Texas.

Here’s how it looks after the accident. I had Koenig wheels on but one was trashed so I threw on the oem rims I still had.

Yeah I get you. Though I will say the compression has not changed since I owned it. I tested it at 80psi when I first got it a year ago, and it was still 80 the second time. I'm thinking that motor still has some life left, and that's after revving it up all the time even while under zero load. Thanks for your input, I appreciate it.

It's under my father's insurance still and pretty sure it's liability, so from my understanding I don't think it would've made the hassle worth it. But tbh I didn't make much of an effort on that front.

take ins money and buy it back if you want, the core might be rebuildable but you wouldnt know until you open the keg and inspect the housings, irons, rotors, e shaft etc. i bought my totalled one back years ago cause i had lots of aftermarket parts which i kept what i wanted and parted the rest out
