Edit: solution was to pressure test. Replaced hose that was leaking pressure but not any coolant. Air trapped inside heater core was also causing issues. Using a vacuum tool to fill up coolant seems to of done the trick

I have a 2006 auto rx8.
the heater no longer works at all it just blows cold air.
when i press the POWER AND SCAN UP it gives me FAN- TEMP- and when i move the **** it gives me an arrow if its changing not number 0-16.
I have looked under the driver side at the white arm that moves. It moves correctly when adjusting the temp dial but the temp doesnt change.

Other known issues: The car overheats after longer drives and expecially on the freeways. i usually just put it in Neutral and roll until it cools down then can drive again fine. if i dont the coolant starts spraying out from the overflow bottle cap. (i replaced the overlfow bottle assumng this was the problem and it wasnt) i assume this is the themostat and i have bought a HF one to put in.
