Heat and the parking brake handle

My husband got a scare today when he got in my car after leaving it sitting in the sun for a while, and discovered the bottom handle on the parking brake had gotten all squishy. He freaked out for a minute, thinking he had broken something, but quickly realize it had just warmed up a bit too much. Anyone else notice this yet? Not really a problem, just a little startling at first.

He also took two of his friends to lunch in it today, and they had no problems fitting in. So, three average size guys fit just fine without too much problem for at least short trips.

Thumbs up

Dark colours heat up quicker and retain heat longer , however youre handbrake should not melt ,combination of internall and externall heat is a worry ,i am not looking forward to hot summer driving .
Elara have u thought of using the front windscreen foil type protectors ,this may keep your car cooler.

Yup, especially after today. We're going to go looking for it this weekend. I may just suck it up and buy a car cover as well, to keep the sun off the leather seats during the day.

And I don't mean it actually melted, just became a lot more flexible. Kinda weird, but not really a huge issue.

I noticed this as well when I was checking out the material of the 8 my dealer had on the lot (was wondering if the leather parking brake was worth it). The bottom, trigger portion of the handle was very flexable on this 8 as well -it was sitting out under the hot sun all day....

The bottom portion is soft plastic with no internal pipes or metal to make it rigid.

So it's normal.
