Question porting..

so, i finally finished all the little nics and tiks the car needed and everything is up to date now I'm wondering if you guys would have some answers I need, I looked around on google and either I can't read or it's not there, But what are really the "BIG" differences between the race port and bridge port? I would also love to know if there is a way to really get a nice brap sound, unless that is done with a tune of some sorts.. Thanks in advance!

You can’t really get that sound out of the Renesis due to the way the exhaust ports are set up. On older rotary engines, the exhaust port was on the housing but on the Renesis it’s built into the irons. This means there is no real way to get enough overlap to make the “brap” sound. You will need to swap and street port an RX7 13b REW for the sound you want.

"Brapping" requires a rebuild w/ a bridgeport.

Check it:

I won’t go i to great length repeating myself once again. What minor bit of porting works on a Renesis is not worth it. This is not the same as previous rotary engines. I know it’s hard for enthusiastic RX8 newbies to accept. If you research the subject properly here there isn’t a single ported engine with actual valid, repeatable independently proven results of ever even making the same output as the most proven powerful non-ported engines on here.

The Renesis is unique above all other engines; rotary, no port timing overlap, and a shared siamese exhaust port. The details involved there matter. A lot of standard theory and known methods aren’t applicable. You can sound cool, look cool, spend cool, but all that is vain, meaningless, and lower performance.

So in the end, street ported and bridge ports affect very little.. in reality it seems like the TRUE way to get more power is to add a turbo? For the renesis atleast. Anything else it would probably work then if it wasn't a renesis.. thanks for the info!

They had every opportunity to compare the streetport with the bridgeport in a head to head in that video .... but they didn't do it . I suspect that was because the streetport was actually quicker!

Seems we've wandered from OP's stated query..., to which the video makes a positive contribution.

True, there is little comparison in terms of power, but then again...that was not the question.
