Hi. Been a lurker here since I got my rx8 a couple of years ago so thanks to everyone who's helped me fix a few things by myself. Unfortunately my engine has now seen better days. I had a big oil leak between the gearbox and the engine and without a rotary specialist nearby I took it to my local garage hoping that it would just be a seal that had gone. They told me from the start that they could strip the gearbox but if the problem was anything other than a seal they wouldn't be able to fix it as they don't have experience with the engine. Thought I'd take my chances but as it turns out some bearings are gone. So no idea if it's possible to just fix the broken bits or if it'll be a full rebuild. Although I suppose if I'm having the engine taken out it'd be stupid not to get everything rebuilt as I could have more problems in the future. It's kinda hard to get it checked out as according to Google the nearest specialist is about 100 miles from Cambridgeshire. I hope this photos can give you an idea of what's failed. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.
