I don't know what you mechanic is talking about, and I'm pretty sure neither does he. There is no computer under the dash.

The best thing you can do is get the actual check engine codes the computer is throwing and post them here. Then we can narrow down what the problem is.

Limp mode is most often caused by a malfunction in the oil metering pump. Could be as simple as a loose connector.

If he's talking about the MAF, check that the MAF is plugged in, since you must have had the intake apart to install coils and spark plugs.

Take the rubber intake bellows off and see if the throttle plate opens fully. If you have a scanner you can check the throttle position and see the same thing. To me it sounds like you are in limp mode. The most likely reason is the oil metering pump as Loki said.

Read up on the positioning switch....you might get it to work by adjusting it

The only things that will cause limp mode are Coolant temp sensor and OMP. The throttle system will also cause issues...but I have never seen a failure that didn't throw a CEL light

Vac leaks will usually throw a lean code...bUT that won't cause a limp mode failure

That... sounds very strange, but OK. Let us know if the fix is permanent.

Don't bother with Seafoam, this isn't a Seafoam size problem. Go get the code scanned, your answer is in there.

I believe its the catalytic converter, you could unbolt the exhaust just after the down pipe and take it for a spin if the problem goes away and stays away you know that the cat wasn't allowing air flow. Seen people trying to clean cats with chemicals and fuel treatments, I think that's more of preventative maintenance and doesn't help much if your already way to clogged but who knows.
