Appearance Package Help - Need templates or instructions!

Hi, I just bought a used set of the OEM side/rear aero flares and air dam; however, I don't have the templates or instructions on how to install.

Does anyone have a copy that they no longer need or does anyone have a copy.

I am willing to pay for them.

Please let me know asap.

Tom

I haven't heard of many people purchasing the appearance package after the vehicle. I'm guessing your best bet would be Trussville or Rosenthal Mazda. <shrug> Free bump if nothing else. Good Luck!

Have you purchased new adhesive tape for the kit..? What kind did you go with, if so?

the holes for the front airdam and the rears are premarked where you have to drill.

For the front airdam, first remove the front bumper. Then your going to have to unscrew the lower splitter and remove it. On the back of the bumper you should see 6 circles with crosshares on them, thats where you drill. After drilling the holes its a matter of bolting the front airdam into place and putting the bumper back on.

The rear bumper is kind of the same deal. You have to remove the rear bumper and look for the markings. On the rear there will be a place to drill a single hole, and also a place marked to drill several holes together to create a slot. The rears then get bolted with a bolt, a clip, and a clip hanger in the wheel well.

These 2 pieces took me a good 3-4 hours to install.

I have no experience with the appearance package sides so I can't help you out there.

The adhesive basically goes around the edge of the appearance package, where it connects/touches the body. Mounting & clips don't make it "mold" to the car perfectly, so an adhesive was used.

I contacted Rosenthal; however, it looks like I can't order a copy of the instructions templates. Does anyone have or know someone who has these? Please help me out.

I think I still have the instructions and templates for the side and rear aero flares. No go on the front though since I decided not to get that part. P/M me your info and I'll send it to you when I find it.

Yeah take your time. J/K (well kind of)

The rear aero flares are a pain to install since you have to remove the rear bumper. I'd get someone to help you in the removal. So one person can hold the bumper while the other takes out all the fasteners. That way you won't accidently drop and damage your bumper. From what I remember the instructions were pretty straight forward. It's just a little nerve wrecking to have to drill and cut into your car. I drilled some smaller pilot holes first before I went with the final drill size.

I looked for the instructions but it looks like I only have the MS sideskirt instructions.... but yea, your going to have to take the bumpers off.

I believe there is a step by step instruction thread somewhere here about how to take the front bumper off. Thats the hardest part since the drill holes are already premarked. There isn't any template for the front or the rear that I can think of.

From memory, to take off the rear bumper you take out the rear taillights to get at a couple bolts. Then there are 2 or 3 bolts under the car that come out. A few clips in the rear wheel wells need to be removed. Then you have to fight a abit after that as there is a strip of clips on each side where the bumper meets the rear 1/4 panel.

The front bumper you need to remove about a dozen screws on the bottom where the bumper fastens to the radiator tray. Remove some clips from the wheel wells and the remove the sidemarkers. There are also a handful of clips and bolts under the hood around the hood latch area. Then you fight a bit with the strip of clips under the 2 headlights.

I just found a helpful DIY thread:
https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...=remove+bumper

This will help in removing the bumper. Does anyone else know a link to any other helpful DIY links? I think I have exhausted them all.

However, I remember seeing a DIY for AP install. Does anyone remember this?
