Greddy Turbo Kit First Start-up

Today I have started up the RX8 for the first time after mounting the greddy turbo kit. Unfortunately it is still running on the stock maps so I was very limited on what I could actually do.

Perhaps this is going to be a non-sense post and everything is working as it should be but my concern is this; even the though it fired up immediately without major issues, it seems as if the turbo is not spooling up enough to generate any boost. As I said, without the proper maps I couldn`t rev it up but I just revved it up till 3K and it seems that the turbo wasn`t spooling at all. I also checked from underneath the car and it seems that there are not evident leaks. On the electronic boost controller, once I rev it a bit and release the throttle, boost peaks at 0.2 PSI only. I am current running catless so I would also assume that this should help for spooling.

Therefore my question is this, how much boost (if any) , would you actually see with a greddy turbo kit at 3K-4K without load (ie without any gears engaged)?

None . You don't get boost from free revving.

I recommend thewird, he could probably get that beast to 170WPH easy.

Unfortunately mine is the JDM 4port which is not supported by the MM accesssport. I am trying to understand what other options are out there (without breaking the bank),.... I am leaned towards MazdaEdit but the fact that it doesnt have FI base maps is making me to rethink.

It is not that with a basemap I will not need a professional tune, but at least with a basemap I can continue to debug any mechanical issues before starting the tune. Unfortunately, there are no professional RX8 tuners on the island therefore I have to rely on a remote tuning session.

I recommend thewird, he could probably get that beast to 170WPH easy.
I was aiming to get a bit more than that with the electronic boost controler but first things first. Right now I need to understand whether the turbo was mounted correctly or not. The turbo is a second hand kit with a custom intercooler, and although the kit seemed to be in a good condition, I would like to understand whether I have any mechanical issues before spending more money on the tuning.

well for flashing you only have ME or Cobb ..
And none of them have FI maps

You can drive the car fine .. just don't go in to boost .. 1 psi tops .. the stock map will be fine if you don't do anything to go in to boost
