Hey everybody I need done help I just bought a 2007 Grand touring Mazda RX8 Shiftable automatic and the acceleration is not were it's suppose to be its running 0-60 in about 11 seconds and I've changed plugs, wires,coils,cat I try and and get the rpms high from Neutral into drive but the rpms drop and it starts slow anybody know what's wrong or what I need to do to get it to the 6 seconds that it's suppose to run

 

how about simple stuff like air filter, clean ess and maf. any mods? whats the mileage? was it a gradual loss?

 

Keep in mind that you probably won't get it down to the 6 seconds. The automatic transmission version you have has 30hp less than a manual transmission one, and far less area under the curve. It's going to be slower. Not 11 seconds though, so yes, you still have something wrong with the car. Where did you get the coils from? There are counterfeits out there.

 

No mods 48,000 miles on it the take off was super slow then I changed out all the plugs (NGK) ,coils, and wires and it got way better I know the take off won't be that fast but I was expecting better than 11 seconds, I haven't changed the air filter I'll swap that out next

 

clean the MAF and the ESS, reset the fuel trims and ESS. See where you are.

Check your catalytic converter as well. You can wait until night fall and take it out for a drive and then look under the car and see if it's glowing. Best method is to pull it down and inspect it though.

 

Still nothing guys did all of the above and the 0-60 is still at 11-12 second any more suggestions I replaced the air filter with a new k&n replacement one and very little difference cleaned MAF sensor and ESS

 

How are you launching it ? Autos don't do very well when you just stomp on the pedal ...................

 

I try two diffrent ways one that dosen't work at all is I leave it neutral Get the RPM high but when I put it in drive the RPM drops to 0 and takes off slow ( traction is off ) and that was going to be another question I was going to ask if anybody knows what that was about and the second is I hold the break and gas the RPM never goes higher than 2k and then I let go of the break and still slow start and the easiest which is just stepping on the gas but same result

 

Sounds like you need a launching lesson to me ..... I'm not sure how it's supposed to be done - maybe someone else can chime in here ..............
