RB v Borla

I have an 11 R3-

Thinking of exhaust options
Track the car 4 - 5 times/yr and is my daily driver-
RB v Borla -

I am hesitant to add weight to the car just for sound
Yet I don't want on overly loud obnoxious sound
Any thoughts/experience with a good exhaust, even if not RB or Borla are appreciated
Thanks

RB is heavy, but I ended up going with it, anyway. I love the twin tips on each side, and it's very well made. The reason it's heavier is stated on their site: They wanted to keep the sound in the exhaust to avoid drone in the car, so they used heavier gauge stainless steel. I'm grateful for that, too. It sounds great, especially when you first fire it up. Deeper and mellower than OEM. The extra 8 lbs. over stock isn't great, but I shed well over than that with my forged wheels, and the next battery I get will be 8 lbs. lighter than OEM, so I'm not too worried about it.

I too have the twin tips. I absolutely love the sound. My car isn't counting carps so she doesn't mind the extra pounds

I have Borla and it sounds perfect for me. Not too loud cruisin' round town but get on it and it has an aggressively pleasant tone

I'm not sure what the RB weighs in at, but the Borla comes in at 47 lbs, which is heavier than stock. I personally went with the Mazdaspeed dual canniser (S1 version) exhaust on my R3.

It is much lighter (33 lbs) than the Borla. It sounds awesome, but there is a bit of drone at 120 kph. I have also experience very small cracks where the exit pipe exits the canister, but these are easily patched up with a quick weld.

All in all, I love the MS exhaust for it's sound and weight, but probably wouldn't go with it again due to the cracks.

47 lbs is the shipping weight of the Borla. I just got mine in this week, and they used ALOT of packing material. The box was twice as tall as it needed to be and they used several, several cubic feet of expandable foam to fill in the gaps. Probably a little under 40 lbs after all the packing material taken out of the equation.

I seem to recall the Borla being a few pounds under OEM when I was researching it.
