To buy or not to..

Hey guys,so im thinking about getting this Mazda Rx8.
Just wanted to see what the more experienced rx8

He has reciept from bying the motor, but did replace it himself.

Sounds a little high to me for one that seems kinda beat up, IMHO
That many miles with the admitted problems that are obvious, how many are not apparent?
I don't do a lot of comparisons, you may find one in better shape. You might want to look on the web to see what similar models are going for.
Bottom line is, what it's worth to you?

Well here's the thing,I have a 06 gsxr 600 that i'm trying to sell or trade for $3800.My bike is in excellent shape with some mods,I just want to get away from the bike scene as I now have young kids.
This guy offers this car for a straight up trade cause he wants a sportbike. Seeing as how this car usually sells for around 5-6,just made me want another opinion from a rx8 enthusiast if this car would be a equal trade, and any other common problems I should look for when metting up with this guy.

Thanks for the fast reply.

That sounds like a better deal.
Bike for the 8 sounds good.
Just be sure you read the new and potential owner stickies so you know what you're getting into.
Not exactly a typical family car, but doable.
Premium gas, 16-20 mpg, for starters.
Good luck!

Oh, ask if he's had a compression test done recently.
Very important to know if this engine is healthy.
Some remans have failed rather quickly.
READ THE STICKIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It will not be used as a family car,I have a 07 denali for that.I also own another car that I use for my daily driver.Just wanted to see what you guys thought of this car,5k on motor says he has receipt from dealer, that caught my attention. Heck if I don't like the car I will turnaround and sell it I guess.i like the looks of the 8 ans look like it would be fun to drive.

I will read up on those threads, thanks.

Sounds like a good deal if the engine is healthy. I would still do the compression test regardless of claims about engine mileage...it's Craigslist. Bullet hole?

An 04 with 148,000+ miles and some issues could be trouble, but those can be fix. Anyway, if you can get the price down around $5000, it can be a good deal, good luck!
