Does any know if the lights for an 09 are the same, the actual lens and back of the light, is the difference just the HID unit? So if I buy an 09 halogen light, can I just put the factory HID into it and its the same as the HID?

 

No they are not the same...

The Headlight Lens & Body (the rear fixed part glued to front clear Lens) which accommodates the HID Lamps , other Globes, etc are not the same as the standard Halogen Lens & Body.

Also just to change over to OEM HID's you are talking a lot of $$'s for new...
2 HID Starters for globes are $420 each,
plus the lens and body $600 each,
plus the globes and fittings $500,
Then all the crucial stuff like relays and wiring which is also different.

Also Mazda uses front and rear body pitch 'position levellers' (one front one rear suspension) for HID headlamp projectors, about $800 for the two.

Then there is a ''control module'' for these projector levellers, about $550.
Plus all the wiring..

Now using an after market cheap HID kits, is another subject again, some brands have had electrical issues, I have heard of cars catching on fire after long night use.
All sorts of control and electrical issues with cheap kits.

Repeat, Mazda does not market/sell any HID Kit.

 

Hay Ash, thanks for the help, my 09 has HID's on it now. But they are tinted, I am wanting to got back to stock and sell or trade the tinted lenses. So that was why I was asking. I was going to take the guts from my current lights and put them in the new HID's.
