table saw noise

Hey guys i notice when i start my car up on a cold engine i get table saw noise coming from the left side of the engine bay. It does it for a bit and then shuts off...almost like a fan would. I heard another 8 start up and his did the same thing...anyone know anything about this?

It's the airpump.

Turns on during cold start up to blow air into the exhaust to warm up the cat quicker.

It's normal.

You've been on this board for 4 years? Have you never read a sticky?

I searched but came up with nothing. I dont know how to sticky things or find stickies....so no i guess not. Thanks though

stickies are the threads at the top of each section that say "Sticky"

Just saw that. Mayne its just cause im on my phone but they seem to change every time i load the page. Should i be worried if it seems like its getting louder then before? I saw in another thread you can just remove it if you dont have a cat or emissions standard...i have both so no go there.

I think your just more attuned to it so you notice it more. Can't imagine it's anything to worry about.

Thanks alot fuztupnz. I will check it out today. Started my car up today and it sounded horrible. I honestly thought the fire station siren was going off...but it was just my car
