I just recently bought an 8. And the previous owner said he lost all the original keys. He only had the valet key which is what i currently use for my car. So i have no remote access to my trunk or door locks.

Is there anyway that if I bought programmable switchblade keys online (like off ebay) i could get them cut at a locksmith and program them myself? Because I know the dealership wants insane amounts of money for replacement keys, and to program them, which takes like 10 mins.

What are my options? or is the stealership the only way for me to get replacements. Because i currently have only one key for the car.

 

You need at least 2 working (programmed) remotes to be able to program it yourself, so the dealership looks like it's your only way. Or if you could find someone who has a key-programming device maybe the price would be lower.

 

They only gave me 1 key when i bought the car. I guess the previous owner just gave them 1 key. That sucks.
