Is the Series II worth it??
I have been looking for a blue 2009+ r3. I also have been reading the forums about how there isn't a tune out for the car. Is it worth it getting a series II?? I definately want to modify the car performance wise. I'm new so try not to bash me. Do u need a tune to add bolt on modds?? I love everything about the series II, it was just depressing reading about the tuning problemm. Any help would be nicee! Thanks
the benefits of a better tranny, and oil injection for your rotors, outweighs the benefits of getting a series 1 just for the tuning. If there's none out now there will be in the future.. go for a series 2.
My bad RX8soldier, I thought u were talking about tuning the car and whether or not it was necessary. I'm just hoping a the series rx8 will be able to be tuned in the future. That's the only thing I'm skepticale about.
They are wayy faster than an S1, they feel a lot better overall when driving. Look a bit more aggressive stock (R3) than S1. Nephew has one and it dynoed at 185hp bone stock. Youll bw lucky to get a used Series 1 that dynos at 170hp ....Personally Id get a GT Series II because of the leather and Navigation system, body aero can always be bought. Just look at the potential it has. Youd
be amazed at what a lightweight flywheel alone can do for your car. What are you trying to do with ur car?

I really love the rx8 platform. I have a 3000gt sohc and its soo disappointing. I love the rotary engine and how light the car iss. I would like to eventually put a turbo or nitrous on it but as of now I'm looking at r3's and trying to get all the info I can so I'm educated on the car unlike I was with the 3000gt. I'm hooked on the blue r3's. I was just reading forums on how the first mod should be a cobb ap but its not compatible with the series II and I got worried.
^The cobb is NOT compatible with S2 8's.
Make sure you read the stickies before you make a purchase.
As for your goals, I would recommend an S1, as they have more available options.

I understand the cobb isn't for the series II, that's why I got worried but ill prob just go with the series II. I like every other aspect of the car besides the fact that the cobb isn't an option
I hope the info that was provided will be helpful, and the best way for power, is to not to go cheap.. things such as porting your engine and eventually turbocharging is the way to go, but it will not come cheap. goodluck buddy and post pics once you get your car
Oh one more question guyss, should I go for a series II sport or R3? I really like the R3 but some places have high pricess. I mean I could just save longer, jw if it's worth the waitt??
I have a sport and love it... only thing i wish i had from the r3 is the fog light assembly ... other than that i either modded myself or will mod in the near future (suspension, wheels, HIDs, etc).
