Babyseat

So my wife is looking for a baby seat that will fit in the RX-8 easily and still leave enough room for another person in the car. I did a search but the most recent post I could find was from '09.
Thanks for any help.

Infant or toddler? People use different terms for baby...

If it's infant then you will probably have to slide the passenger front seat forward quite a bit for any infant car seat to fit. But it will work if the person riding shotgun isn't too big.

it works out pretty well for either a baby or a toddler seat. my wife is short so it was not to big of a deal to slide the seat forward just a little.

Its really easy getting them in and out of the car too.

Would be a infant as she is not due until mid January. That post looks very helpful. Much appreciated

The Graco 32 Snug Ride and Cosco Scenera both fit just fine. The thing to note is that some wide car seats don't fit well (like some oversized Brittax ones). Also, the base units that some car seats snap into are either too bulky or position the car seat to have more interference with the front seats, so I didn't use the base with the Graco. The Graco one we used had a handle over the top and snapped into a stroller (handy for infants), while the Cosco one can face forward or rear and has a wide weight range.

The Cosco one is around $50 and has straps that don't get as tangled as my wife's fancy Brittax. The Cosco one is also airplane compatible, lightweight, and comes with a carrying bag for air travel. I highly recommend the Cosco Scenera! Here's a link:

They come in lots of colors too...

The Baby Trend flex loc carriers are easy to install and are compact enough to really fit nicely

Of Course the handle alone makes them the obvious choice

+1 on baby trend. The base for the carrier can make it a tight fit, but if you just strap in the carrier by itself, it fits well. My wife is 5'7 and fits comfortably with it behind her.

The baby trend package is a pretty good set up in and of itself, I might add. That stroller is hoss, it even has a speaker hook up for your mp3! The basic package is just over $200 for stroller, carrier, and 1 base. Additional bases are around $45.

The stroller is a mighty tight fit in the truck, though. The back wheels may not clear the trunk opening without major fuss.

oh hell no- that one wont fit I thought you meant the thing that went with the baby seat/carrier

http://www.amazon.com/Baby-Trend-Sna...2850307&sr=1-1

its really funny what will and wont fit though. that one you posted wont fit but because the wheel is too big but this Sit and Stand for two kids from Joovy will

http://www.amazon.com/Joovy-Caboose-...2850388&sr=1-2

but the same thing from Baby Trend Wont

http://www.amazon.com/Baby-Trend-Sta...2850388&sr=1-1

it just doesnt fold as flat

we have a single seat Baby Trend umbrella stroller that we got 6 years ago. Got it at Babies R US for $50 or something on sale. that thing fits in the trunk with a weeks worth of groceries. Its been through a couple dozen airplane flights too and still going strong. the last two years things keep breaking on flights though. lost the latch that holds it folded(now using a bungie). lost one wheel brake. then lost a front wheel lock. I imagine it will be done for by the end of our trip this month

I have both a toddler seat and an infant seat in mine. Toddler seat should be the easiest, unless yours is like mine and likes to push the button that moves the driver's seat for rear passenger loading. The infant seat isn't as easy, but any seat should be doable. Mounting it without the base will leave a little more room.

i've had two car seats in the back of my 8.. i think they are Grayco brand.. one was for my four year old and the other for my two and a half year old. they fit just fine..just left me with a lot less room and sitting upright.

Graco New Born/Infant car seat without using the base and a Kolcraft Countours 3 stroller in the trunk.
