P2097 & P0139, Strange Noises

Hey Guys, need some input on this.

After fixing my car with numerous items, I am having some issues with it. Every once in a while I get the P0139 CEL up, as well as the P2097 CEL up (This once doesn't come up as much). I have done the research on what both of these means, but no one appears to be having similar symptoms as I have.

Symptoms are as follows:

- Bad Idle / Exhaust Noise: The idle sticks anywhere from 800-1000RPM, which is fine. BUT, from the exhaust, it doesn't sound right at all. It sounds like an old muscle car, "bum bum bum bum bum bum bum bum).

- High RPM Noise: This noise is the weirdest. It does not happen when I rev it up when I am simply sitting in neutral - It ONLY comes when I am driving. Here's a description:

If I am driving at any speed, lets say 70 KM/HR, in 6th Gear, and floor it, I hear a faint, but evident, "Tick tick tick tick tick tick tick tick". It is not very loud, but very fast.
If, on the other hand, I am in, lets say 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc. and I am at high RPM's (4+, but mainly kicks in around 5-6k), the noise literally overtakes that of the exhaust when I put moderate or heavy load on the car And I have a gutted CAT. Now, on the other hand, it is not a ticking. It is more of a loud... banging noise that happens quite fast, but not "continuous". It isn't always a smooth "bang-bang-bang-bang". It sounds like a loud clanking or something (I refer to it normally as it sounding kind of like a bad exhaust leak or as if a spark plug were completely out and it was popping).

Now here's the weird thing - It doesn't happen every time I try it. Sometimes it goes through all the RPMs fine without noise. Most of the time though, it does make the noise. None the less, I am sure the little "tick tick tick tick" I hear is always there when I put it under moderate or heavy load.

One thing to mention - I do have a K&N Typhoon Intake on the car (No, I never put it on. The guy before me did and threw away his OEM one )

Does anyone have any idea's? My initial thinkings for the idle, is, well, nothing. I am lost on that one. As for the noise while driving, I am considering motor mounts or the transmission input shaft bearing making a noise (Though I doubt this one). As for the CEL's, I am unsure either, as I have checked the 02 sensors, checked for exhaust leaks, etc. Unfortunately due to my health condition, I am not as able to do much anymore, over the past two weeks and now so on, hence why I have resorted to here.

Any input is appreciated. Like I said, I have read lots about the CEL's in particular and have checked over multiple things. I also just replaced the coils, plugs and wires, as well as a new battery. And yes, I have reset the PCM multiple times.

Thanks guys!

If I recall, you just got your BHR stuff? If you did the install, are all the wires connected properly? The ticking could be a loose wire on a plug. Make sure that the wires click into place (on the plugs and coils). That could also be the cause of your exhaust note sounding off...

The K & N... get rid of it, man! That's one of the first things people mentioned when you first mentioned you had it! Look for someone parting out their car or look on kijiji or something. I mean, you just spent a ton on cleaning products. Priorities!! lol

That said, you probably could try cleaning your filter, maf and eccentric shaft sensors. That could also help with the idle (don't forget the 20 brake stomp reset!).

Lol I know, I have said in other posts I gotta get rid of that damn K&N!! As for the wires - They were all checked over, multiple times. In original post, I said I have reset the PCM multiple times, so the 20-stomp is done and done!

I am planning on cleaning MAF/IAT, and will clean the eccentric as well. Thanks!

Any thoughts on the noise while driving?

So have you installed the BHR ignition or not?

On the Cel front:
The P0139 was fixed for me when I replaced my Rear O2

I've also had the P2097 code however that was while I was trying to scale my Maf after I installed my turbo. I went a little crazy with the scaling and this code popped up.
So maybe your Maf is bad or perhaps a vacuum leak.

The Bang Bang bang noise makes me think motor mounts or your exhaust is bounding against something.

Tick Tick tick .... something or a loose plug wire.

check the plugs, a while back when i replaced mine i over torqued one and put a hairline chack in the porclin. it caused a ticking at higher rpms, but i could see it arcing to the block. im known for over torquing stuff and that was a $20 mistake.

btw sorry to hear about your brother, that really sux man

I've got this annoying *** tick at idle, and sometimes it misfires, other times it doesn't.
It's intermittent to the point where I'm having trouble tracking it down.
