Okay, now I'm really confused. Copied exactly from MazdaUSA.com:
Front Air Dam
Give your RX-8 a lowered, ground effects racer look, especially when combined with the sporty Side and Rear Aero Flares. Not for use with the Grille Trim Ring and Automatic Transmission vehicles.
WTF?

Okay, so some owners have the front air dam but that still doesn't answer my question as to WHY Mazda has that information on the web-site. Has anything changed?
RX-Jon... read the above quote on the description of the Air Dam.. it specifically says that it's not meant to be used on Automatic Transmission. This is stated in the accesories brochure, as well as the Mazda website.
You can have the auto with the air dam OR the auto with the grill trim ring, but you can not have the air dam AND grill trim ring AND auto all on the same vehicle. I would think it has to do with cooling on auto trans cars.
RX-Jon... go to the Mazda website. I'm sure it's suppose to say one thing... but when you read it, it's exact meaning is that AT's cannot have this as part of the installation. I even asked my dealer when I purchased the car whether I can add it on... and he read the brochure and said.. No.

Don't sweat it Outlaws, this is only a message board.
Besides it IS very confusing the way it is written and it adds to the confusion since you went to a dealership and they came to the same conclusion that I did - that it would not fit the automatic.

So what's the verdict? Is Mazda's brochure/website right or wrong? Has anyone installed the air dam on an auto and if so, were there any issues? I've read over and over about air circulation to the tranny, blah blah, and I think it's all BS. I'm considering ordering the part from Rosenthal and installing myself.
if anyone have went to japanparts.com the said that for the front air dam "Unavailable to install both this part and Front Grille Garnish (#091-006-001) same time on A/T,..
...so....u can only install either one...

I'm wondering what the heck does the grille trim ring have to do with all this... doesn't look that it would influence the cooling at all. This exclusion doesn't make any sense.
