Cadillac grills installed on my Ti
I know most of you opened this thread expecting to puke, but it's not what you think. I work for Cadillac, and the new CTS-V has a killer mesh grill that I knew would look great on my RX8. So, I called up the factory and ordered a 4x3 sheet uncut, and I installed it today. Here's some photos. BTW, thanks to Hymee for his excellent pictures and instructions on removing the front bumper, it was a snap!

Well, ordering will be a problem. I work for Cadillac and called in a favor from my factory rep. I do not believe that this exact material can be purchased. It's a stainless steel mesh weave (the laces are overlapping weave, not just stamped holes) . The pics don't do it justice in my opinion.
I'll look into finding a vendor or distributor who can sell the material. GM has to buy it from somewhere, right?
:D

Nice job man. Looks awesome, and pretty much what I plan to do this summer. Not sure yet if I'm going to leave it aluminum or paint it black though... I'll have to study yours a bit, as mt car's the same georgeous color. :D Don't suppose you'd be willing to post up a few more pics? Specifically closer shots of the grille, but not quite as close or far as you've posted so far.

Yeah, that was the only way to attach it. Plus, the stock grill provides attachment points for the lower air splitter, so I figured it was easier to do it this way than to try and devise a new way to mount that splitter, cover up the unsightly styrofoam behind the bumper, and attach the mesh.
If you use a rigid material like I did, then there is a small amount of cutting needed back there to allow the mesh to lay flat. Sorry, I didn't take any pics of that.

You're going to laugh because this seems pretty ghetto, but we just drilled two small holes in the "blocked off" section of the factory grill and used 22 gauge stainless wire to "tie" the grill on.
We drilled about 7 or 8 points around the very outside of the grill, basically tying down the furthest edges of the mesh. We then pre-bent the mesh prior to installing it to keep it flush, and prevent the center from bowing out away from the plastic grill.
