Please Help...RX8 keeps turning off...

Hi,

I bought a Mazda RX8 a few months ago, mileage (67000)...My RX8 initially had a problem of taking time to start up once the engine was warm, and a few weeks ago I flooded it (so it wouldn't start at all). I got it towed to Mazda Dealer who charged 70£ for an investigation - they told me that the car requires a new started motor, spark plugs and a battery.

They quoted me a crazy 1000£ exc VAT, so I took it to another garage and provided the mechanic with the parts.

After all the parts were replaced ( also replaced 2 ignition coils ) the car started up and I drove it back home - everything seemed Ok. However, I drove it a few days ago and now the car switches off automatically when I let go of the rev.
The car starts up normally, but once it is warm and I drive for a few minutes, if I let go of the accelerator the engine switches off. (The car doesn't redline anymore either - doesn't pass 7 revs easily )

If any one on this forum can help me with what the problem is, it will be highly appreciated!!!!

Also wanted to know --- do RX8s need engine rebuild after 60000 miles?? And what are the symptoms of engine rebuild..

Thanks!

hard start when warm and shutting off at idle are telltale compression issue signs, i'd change the other 2 coils and if that doesn't help, you need to get a compression test done as you may be a candidate for a new motor!
