Came home from work today and just as I was pulling into the parking lot, I noticed that the engine was bogging down while taking the turn. The car was still in 2nd gear as I made the turn even though I had the clutch pressed. I kept it in gear and parked it. To park, I had to take it out of gear so I didn't hit the curb. And of course, it won't go back into gear.

Ever notice how our cars make some kind of noise (maybe like a couple of gears operating?) while the clutch is released in neutral but goes away when the clutch is pressed? Mine still makes the noise while the clutch is pressed. So if my amateur diagnosis is right, it's the clutch that's not disengaging and not some nasty transmission problem, what could be the problem? The linkage? I checked under the dash, the pedal, spring, linkage look fine from there. Not really sure where to go from here. Any help would be appreciated

The clutch was replaced about 5,000 miles ago. Exedy OEM replacement.

check your clutch pedal for any broken weld. its very common on S1's and is covered under 8yr/100k warranty.

 

Ok I just checked. You're talking about the pedal bracket right? I've heard a lot of people have to upgrade theirs but mine was fine.

 

this happened in my rx7 the other day. and my friends jeep. his was a failing master cylinder. i know my rx7s is on its way. in the mean time, i just pumped the clutch pedal a few times to get pressure back into the system. its been fine since.

 

Check your clutch clyinder for any leaks in your lines and around the rubber, if no leaks, you might just have to bleed it to get the air out like you would do to your brakes. That noise when the clutch iis in neutral might be a bad throw-out bearing hope you change all of that when you replaced the clutch including the pilot bearing.

 

I had a buddy come by after work yesterday to look at it. We were checking the lines and he found one of them has a lot of play in it, right on the slave cylinder. He says he could fix it if he could get to the damn thing but there's no room to work. We couldn't even bleed the line to get the air out, there's so little room. How do get to the slave cylinder bleeder? Remove the oil filter? And that line that is loose? (I've searched for diagrams to point out which line i'm talkin about but I can't find any.) I only saw 2 lines going to the slave cylinder. One was a small one that ran directly to the master cylinder, another larger one went into the car somewhere. That's the one that's loose.

 

Does anyone know how to get to the lines on the slave cylinder? What all needs to come off or is there some trick to it? Any help would be appreciated.

Also, where could I find a diagram of this? I would think the dealer should have something, but i'm not really sure whether or not they'd give it to me
