not really - its actually pretty common... with propane stoves/ grills. certain spider types are attracted to the smell and the size of the tube of the venturis.

they spin a really tight web or even lay up their egg sac in there and it blocks or partially blocks the flow of the propane. You go to start your grill and you either get nothing or poof you get a fire by the controls.

So this will be the same thing. this type of spider has found the size of the tube to be perfect for it to set up house and likes the smell of the fuel. perhaps over a couple generations the spiders have learned to identify the smell as "home" instinctively. other cars probably already have some sort of spring/tension-er to seal the opening. The 4 cyl 6 didnt so thats the one the spider finds its way in to.

i wonder what the geographic range of this particular spider is....

 

They're coming visits or shipments from the plants/headquarters in Japan or the part supplier. its not native to the US but it is native to Europe and japan. also a species is found in Argentina

hmm that's a weird recall.

but this reminds me of something. my 8 used to have spider infestation too lol. from time to time I see mini spiders crawl around. since I never afraid of spiders (I actually killed one thats about the size of my hand with my slippers when I was like 8 yrs old, **** was nasty). so I usually just squash it with bare hands then just wipe it off. those spiders are really tiny and looks kinda like the ones in the picture.

and I found webs behind various of places, like behind the trim cover for the side mirror, behind the front fender near the body frame, etc ...

but after about 2 years of killing, I don't see them anymore.

cold weather killed them all maybe? dunno.

so i was off a bit. more research shows me that C. Inclusum is actually fairly wide spread in the US. But the dont seem to be prevalent in Michigan and they like the outdoors more than inside, staying out unless its cold or there is a food shortage. so its likely they are getting in either at the part supplier or after the car is built and delivered out.

Mazda should recall the orange peel in the Ti Gray paint, i'm pretty sure that is why the birds keep shitting on my 8.

 

hey our cars seem to attract mice into the cabin air filter. Its not that much different. Here in Texas we deal with a wasp that likes to make mud nests in tail pipes so we have to cover storage cars to protect them.

 

I'm officially debating about selling my car now, as I don't know if I can sit in her again.

Tis a little funny, but can turn out to be serious, MNAO have had one case, so it just goes to show how good Mazda are...they usually don't muck around when it comes to safety...in this case they are saying possible fire.

The Fix..Recall 6211B..

Requires a Mazda sold Brush p/n MAZ6BRUSH which is pushed down the unassembled Vent Tube (Next To Gas Filler), if spider webs are found on brush end the Tube and Gas Tank are renewed, Use gas tank kit (GSYL-42-100).

If no webs a "spring" is placed in top of Vent Tube/Hose to prevent spider from entering.

Apparently this (Spider's/web) can cause a CEL DTC, requiring a PCM reprogramming procedure.

It applies to all Flat Rock made Mazda 6 including those sold in Mexico.
Year Range (2009-2010) Model (Mazda 6 2.5l) Build Date Range (From April 8, 2008 through to February 8, 2010).

 

Thats pretty great of Mazda to fix something like this as a recall. It sounds like they could just say its not their problem. Its not like a part failed at all, nobody thinks to design parts to keep spiders out.

 

Saw this on my local Mazda form, interesting, and happy to see Mazda doing something about is,

 

perhaps this confirms the whole "there's a spider infestation of Hiroshoma" theory. I've had a "dead" spider living in my rear tail light for years... as do quite a few others. I never got it classed but wouldn't be surprised if it's the same variety.

 

I used to live at a place like that.

Solution was : 3 different brands of those roach fog.

Day 1, Brand 1 , Fog it, twice the recommended strength (if they tell you to use one, use two)

Day 2, clean up, wipe some dead roach away

Day 3, Brand 2, Fog it,

Day 4, clean more dead roaches

Day 5, Brand 3, Fog it,

Day 6, clean a few more

Day 7-10 leave the freaking house don't even bother to live there. Open all windows to let the stuff go away.

and I killed all of them, never seen another one.

That place's roach problem was so fuxking bad that once you turn the lights out, wait for 15 minutes, pop it on and you see them all over the kitchen and ****. Nasty as crap.

I think i found Spiderman! It's hiding inside my car. That's why my car feels sticky all the time.

 

Oh god, I almost moved into a place with a huge roach infestation. Everything looked good the first quick walk through. Then we put the deposit down and started taking a deeper look. It had wood panels on every wall,
I would spray down the length of the wall, and about 50-100 roaches would fall out (no, I'm not exaggerating.) I told them to **** themselves and never took the place.

 

2008 and 2009 Honda Accords are also apparently experiencing a Yellow Sac spider infestation

Yeah PETA. Let me donate my car to you because the possibility exists that it MIGHT have a small spider in it. I tend not to kill spiders- when we find them int he house i am dispatched to capture and release them outside- but who the f? would get rid of a car because of 1 spider or one mouse?

Someone should give them a roach infested car and see how long their no kill policy lasts....
