Let me frist state that if this is in the wrong section im sorry. I am posting for a friend of mine who owns one of these cars with the auto sport shift trans. He's not huge on the whole DIY part of cars, so I decided id hop in and try to help. Saddly I dont know much on this car so i figured id come to you guys for some help. From what ive been told the car was running slightly under par. Then when he went to start it one day it wouldent completly turn over and run. He had a friend run the codes and it came up as the SSV being either open/shut. Now i did a little research on here and saw the one write up for completly removing the SSV unit and cleaning it. Will this solve his problem, or are we looking at a bigger problem? Thanks in advance for all your help

 

Fix that first

If the coils/plugs/wires are old...they are a good place to start as well

 

He re-did the plugs, but im not sure if the SSV being stuck open/closed is enough to make the car not start. or Should we look some where else to start?

 

I could see the car not starting if the SSV was stuck open. There are instructions out there as well for testing the SSV before you go through the headache of trying to disassemble everything to get the SSV out to clean. I would try those first.
