So I am finally starting my carPC. I just wrote the custom XML script for centrafuse and I have all the plugins I want and the hardware I want. I will post pics up after every time I get done working on it. Here's a video of centrafuse with my custom XML that I wrote running on my home computer with the HUGE 24 touchscreen. As you can see I made everything red to match my interior and my velocity red rx8. I took this video before I changed the startup sound so I will try and do a new video tonight.

PS: If anybody that has a carPC wants me to write them a custom XML I can do that. Just let me know.

 

not hating but why do this nowadays? there are tablets coming out that you could just mount or build a holder for and take em out with you.

 

Because I want it to look stock and I had most of the parts already. Also a tablet still doesn't even come close to what I can do with a PC in my car.

 

that's like asking why get a desktop when you can just get a laptop? both have their uses.

i can think of several reasons off the top of my head. i wouldn't want to have to manually startup and shutdown a tablet every time i get in and out of my car. i don't want to carry a tablet with me everywhere i go. i'd like to have my media in my car when i go to the grocery store or gym, but i probably wouldn't want to bring my tablet with to do that. i wouldn't want to hook up and disconnect the obdii interface, steering wheel controls, bluetooth mic, audio out every time. hell i would get fed up plugging in the power cord every time. i want to get in and drive. when i'm done i want to get out and leave.

there IS a reason some of us do this... you just haven't thought of them
