Site rules

Simply put why do we have site rules if they are not enforced?

I'm all for making this forum better, seems like 50% of the people on this forum reply with childish, arrogant, ignorant, stupid, coward, irrelevant, uninformative, cocky replies.
I'm sure one will find their way into this thread as well. Or the dreaded: "If you don't like to forum leave". Thanks guy, way to contribute.

I like the information on this site, but we've got to weed out the dead-beats.

Why such concern over that matter and hostility toward the people of whom you speak? I have had conversations with others who have been members of this forum since the early days, like I have, and they express concern about each new spring season bringing in a new wave of "ricers" because the price of the RX-8 drops lower and lower. I am not sure I share their frustration, although I do share their concern, and I try to view each wave of new owners as people whom we can teach about rotaries, the RX-8, and a different way of viewing sports cars.

To simply make the site better and more informative.

Why not put something to the effect : A method of highlighting a less then informative post to a mods attention. While this would be useful I could also see the function being abused.
On dsmtuners we have a "mark this post as helpful" or "report this post to a moderator".

I've seen the threads but I haven't seen much action really put forth.

Reread my post as I added to it while you were posting.......

I think each post has inherent value. We just need to make effort in mining that value. Sometimes a post will simply allow us to discover those of like mind and we can associate with them from that point forward.

Way back when I first started contributing there was a lot to be learned about the RX-8 and this site was largely technical and informative in nature. Since then, the issues that revolve around the RX-8, technically speaking, have been discovered and the site has transformed into mostly a social network. The only technical frontiers left to discover are those involving serious power improvements, esoteric engine mods, and the like, and there isn't too much discussion about it anymore.

What you mention, though, is why I often go back and delete my own nonsensical posts. Otherwise I may have about 12,000-13,000 to my credit.

because "childish, arrogant, ignorant, stupid, coward, irrelevant, uninformative, cocky " are many times in the eye of the beholder and in many case are difficult to moderarte as the moderating staff on many occasions is accused of being too heavy handed. If we stopped all the childish, irrelevant, irreverant posts there wouldnt be as much fun in the forum. as for "dead beats" well they have a right to be here to.

as for a "report post" button- there is on in every post. if you dont like a post report it.

oh see now i know what this thread is about. see a forum member named quicksilver34 made a post suggesting that viprez586's parents paid for his ride.

this angered viprez586 who wrote in response

Yeah buddy, you know me. Mom and Dad just paid for everything.

Go back to your Mom's basement and type some more arrogant **** on this forum since you know everything about everyone.
It's people like you that make this forum suck.
so see viprez586 was attacked completely out of the blue right? and a mod should have punished the offender, right?

except quicksilver34's post was in response to this post

So who was the instigator in this "childish, arrogant, ignorant, stupid, irrelevant, uninformative, cocky" post exchange?

My first post should have been in italics not to offend anyone clearly. It was not directly insulting anyone in particular. More so a common stereo-type when people see a young kid in an RX-8.
I'm 23 and I still get people looking at me with confusion when they see who's driving.
Was this original post so ill-natured? Did it really fuel a fire? Was it directed toward anyone in specific identification? Perhaps. So that makes it an acceptable for other members to flame me for it?

When such attacks/flames are made towards me - well I'm not going to run with my tail between my legs. Perhaps that was just the way I was raised.

I agree the forum should have a "poke-fun" canter, however when another member attacks/insults another member I find that unacceptable.
Was my second post necessary? No. Did I get ridiculed for it? No. Was it in anyway discouraged before the fact?

I did not notice the exclamation mark on the left side.

You will grow a thicker skin as you age

And learn to ignore stuff that doesn't fit into your idea of yourself as you become more sure of who that is....

Ah ****...as you get older you can't remember 5 minutes ago...so it doesn't bother you for long

Hell, I consider you to still be a kid. Your the same age as my son. It's all relative. When you get older, the age at what you consider to be a kid will change too.

Well, I'm glad to see there is some acknowledgment to the issue and that there is mature members on the board.

I agree with the thick skin comment. Hell at 18 there was no talking me down.

Most epic.

When you can't cry to mommy because someone's picking on you, cry to the moderators & admins, brilliant!

It appears humor & forum antics are lost upon you.

Thus I will resort to quoting this picture:

Also, if you're going to take everything the wrong way and throw a hissy fit at every post that isn't sugar-coated and dripping in honey, at least use proper English grammar & spelling

Internet pro tip: Opening a thread whining about people being themselves on an internet forum makes you a prime target for trolling
