It starts up but it literally back fires at idle once its starting to warm up.

and shuts off once warmed up.. Im thinking its low compression.. The oil smelled like gasoline..

They replaced the throttle position sensor but didnt do anything.. then he said they removed the wire from the fisrt coil back right behind the left headlight and it died.. then they tried the rear one and the car stalled.
They have not removed the spark plugs the person seems scared to work on the car just wants to get rid of it.
He thinks spark plugs are fine as they usually last a long time lol
no smoke comes out when started up cold.. just cant seem to hold idle once its warmed up.

Sounds like Burrrr Brap brrap.. burrrr POW POW burrrrr likeeee..

Sounds a bit sick to me...

I would get a compression test done..
Starter/Battery Test..

You need to get engine HOT, and then check exhaust when revving for Smoke, if smoke Oil Rings are worn/worn out.

When HOT Carefully remove Radiator/Coolant bottle CAP, start car and see if you get any little Bubbles in Coolant when you rev steady at around 3000 RPM and Lower,
if so 99% of the time seals are gone...Engine needs re-build.

The oil smelled like gasoline..
Don't like this...franky I would steer clear of it unless you want to spend lots of dollars.

Can you afford a re-build and How much is the CAR worth To YOU?

What does he want for it...$$$s??

Check for a vacuum leak or a leak in the intake piping. Either can cause erratic idle problems.

For example, a leak in the intake piping will result in un-metered air entering the system. That results in an air volume that is different from what the air flow meter (AFM) is telling the ECU. In other words, based on the readings from the AFM, the ECU will be calling for less fuel than is required considering the extra air entering the intake system resulting in a lean mixture.

Go to the RX7Club.com site and search for ideas on how to troubleshoot vacuum and air leaks.

sounds like / symptoms like what happens to a piston engine when you get the plug wires crossed - has he been fiddling with the plug wires? Maybe they're connected to the wrong plugs?
