Thumbs down DDM tuning

ordered two HID kits and received them two months after ordering
no confirmation email and no response to my emails or phone calls
first day a used my HIDs one of the lights would only turn on about half the time and buzz buzz for a second the other half...bad ballast maybe...emailed and called them again with no response
that was 3 weeks ago...since then my light has started working for some reason...break in period???
they say they have a lifetime warranty but good luck getting ahold of them to get a replacement

Is this DDM from South Carolina you're talking about, or do I have companies confused?

yea took a month to get mine also. you pay $15 for shipping and you would think they would get there fast for the little manufacturer box they are shipped in.

I havent even installed them yet because i feel like they arent going to work for very long then I am going to have to order and install another kit.

I bought a HID kit for the duc and a pair of HIDs bulbs for my RX8 and both times the shipping was very prompt. In fact, in both instances they provided me with all the tracking information within a business day.
their products have never failed in my case and the prices and warranty are one of the best.

I just ordered my HID kit from DDM last week, got my tracking number the next day and shipping info straight from CHINA. the kit arrived today and I will install tomorrow. I had a factory ballast go out on my passenger side HID and the dealer said I had to replace the whole headlight ($1200.00!!!!!) I laughed at them and got the kit from DDM for 85$ SHIPPED with 2 new ballasts and two 8000K HID bulbs. I have used DDM 10000K bulbs in my RX-8 for a while now and never had a problem with them. I just hope that replacing the ballast goes smoothly, I was hoping to find some pictures on here with a possible DIY, but no luck so far. Sorry to hear about your bad luck with DDM, but I had no problems, I also called them before I ordered and had someone pick the phone right up and explain the product to me in detail. I have no problems with DDM what so ever, as long as the product works.

^ Why just just replace the OEM Koito ballast in the headlight instead of rigging up an after market setup that likely won't last? Oh, and why bump this 1.5 years later?

not sure about the "likely wont last" but i have had my HID fogs for more than a year and theyre still working like they did from day one. the best part was that i got them from DDM for 35 including the slim ballast/3k bulbs. even with the fog light rewire [they turn on when the car is on all the time]

I've ordered 3 kits from DDM tuning over the last few years and also a set of replacement bulbs. All products came as advertised.

Yes it takes a while to get them. However, I'm unsure what people expect when you're buying a full HID kit for a whopping $35. Considering a pair of silverstar bulbs, let alone ballasts, cost more than that you can't expect the stuff to get there quickly.

My headlights are going on 3 years of use, fog lights a year.

Fast, cheap, good...you can't have them all and most of the time you can only have one.

ive had them for a year and a half now with no more problems
i didnt mind the wait and the price is great
thing that bothered me was no confirmation email and no response to my emails or phone calls
as stated first day I used my HIDs one of the lights would only turn on about half the time and buzz for a second the other half
when i emailed and called them for a new ballast...again no response
ballast fixed itself somehow and no problems since then
didnt say it was a bad price or they didnt deliver...just bad customer service
but that is just my experience
i would just rather pay $50 and get them from VLED where i know i can get ahold of them and if anything goes wrong they will make it right

I do recall getting tracking information but the between follow up was rather non-existent. In fact, it took a week before there was any processing of my order.

I can sympathize with the lack of response with warranty issues. There's no real excuse for that.

My opinion is if ordering from DDM just expect to wait a while and not get a lot of feedback in exchange for super cheap HID's.

My factory HID's and Ballasts (well one lasted 7 years) are almost 8 years old. All I am saying is that aftermarket lighting components typically are not built to the same standards as most OEM lighting equipment and just don't last in the long run. For example the Phillips bulbs last much longer than any of the other brands of HID bulbs which is why they are expensive. Sure you will find a few that have had them last but look at any car community and you read thread upon thread about them burning out, melting housings, etc.

As for fogs, yeah those are worth the risk, they are cheap to replace.

In addition, I would not buy a car that has factory Xenon lights that have been hacked up or wired into. Now if you have halogen and want HID's then this is a route you can take, but again halogen headlights are not $1300.00 each new.

My opinion.

They sell DDM tuning products, very great customer service. However since they take the role of the middle man with warranty and customer service they're prices are increased slightly from ddm.

I bought a low beam HID kit for my motorcycle from DDM. I got my kit within about a week. Must have been a fluke or something.

what kit did you order to replace the OEM? I'm in need of a new ballast and this seems a logical option.
was the kit plug and play with the rx8 wiring?

I'd like to get some advice from someone who has done it already though. If you did do it and you could send me any info on how you did it, it would be much appreciated.
Thanks, Rob.
