Hey guys...wasn't sure where to post my problem so im jus posting here. Anyway, my car recently failed to start. I checked sum of the possible problems such as battery or starter n I've come to the conclusion that its flooded. I tried the deflooding procedure but it didn't work for me. Tried it again before getting it towed...was a bit hopeful since i heard sputters, but still failed n jus kept cranking.

A little back ground on what I did prior to this problem. About 3 days before the problem, I started the car to put it in the driveway. I let it run till it got to bout 1200 rpm on idle before i drove it (which took about 2 mins). I didn't have the time to let it fully warm up but I always am in the habit of reving it to 3-4k rpm before shutting it off (which I do religiously). So I left the car in the drive way and after 3 days of not running, I tried to start it. It started, then quickly shut off. Tried to start it again but it jus kept cranking.

I jus now had it towed to my nearest mazda dealership thinking it would be under the extended warranty (saw the tsb with "cranks but won't start"). But when I got there, the service department told me that if I had the spark plug replacement done already, and if they do the deflood twice n it still won't work, then it won't be covered under warranty. Well, I've gotten the spark plug replacement about 15k miles ago...and did the deflooding procedure as well. Can sum1 pls confirm this?

N also, if by chance that its not flooded n actually a loss of compression problem, would I be covered under the warranty then? My car is an 04 rx8 with around 92,500 miles and I read that the new warranty is under a 100k. I'd be very grateful to any1 who can give me sum info about this warranty problem or any1 who can share a similar experience or maybe sum advice on any action I can take if they decide to charge me and it turns out to be UNDER warranty.

 

put ur tow hook on, get a buddy to tow ur car up to 15 to 20 mph and pop start it from 2nd gear. make sure the rope is long enough that u dont bump into him. dont go over 20 mph. thats how i got mine started. works everytime.

 

unfortunately that's too late for me to try since the car's in the dealership already...my problem now is more of a warranty issue...whether its covered or not. But tnx, i'll keep that in mind for future purposes

 

I have a 2004 flooded it late December. Totally covered under warranty provided it is under 100,000 miles.

 

well the way I understood what they said is, it IS covered under warranty but only if you haven't had your spark plugs replaced (from the tsb I believe?). Is there any1 here that flooded their 8 more than once (who's had their plugs replaced) and got covered under warranty each time?
