I would choose RB since they make a catback for series 2 and MS doesnt.

Racing beat is a 3inch and I believe the MS is 2.5.

That is why I went with the RB.

RB!
Less expensive and slide right in. Perfect fit and finish.

Isnt MS 3.0?....if its 2.5 then I got a problem cause I ordered the RB midpipe and isn't that 3.0? Crap.. To answer your question...I bought mine with MS already on it and it's been great and sounds great.

Do you even know if you're asking in the right place? This is for S2 RX8s.

OP: I've gone 'round and 'round on this myself (to also include Borla) and have decided on a Racing Beat... with an RP SuperCat.

RB = superior build quality to the MazdaSpeed (welds) and it had the tone I was looking for. Hear them all in person before you decide tho'. Definitely an ear of the beholder item.

unless you some how found a boat load of power a 2.5" pipe is more than adequate for an NA street RX-8

^ the short answer is no. The K&N Typhoon produces some appreciable power, but at the expense of being very loud and it also doesn't work very well in hot ambient conditions as it ingests engine bay air. A cold air intake (CAI) will give you a relatively small increase and assures cooler intake air.

The stock intake and exhaust are already pretty much maxed out performance wise. Therefore, aftermarkets are more for unique sound. A high-flow Cat or midpipe on an exhaust do produce appreciable power. But again, fairly small when compared to a forced induction (FI) system.
