Sway bar link woes....

So....say someone happens to pop one of the ball joints out on one of the front sway bar links.....would they just consider that link shot and look to purchase a new one from the dealership?

On a side note, would it be horribly detrimental to have an alignment done w/o one of the sway bar links installed?

Sway bar link won't affect the alignment itself unless you dismantle the entire suspension to fix it which isn't necessary. Just go get a new link and be done with it.
