I have a stock Bose system and looking to add the BassLink 2.
I have searched and searched and have gotten many different answers,, Do or do i not need a LOC, if so what brand, and where do I need to splice in, pre or post amp.
If I dont where Do i need to splice pre of post amp, RCA or Direct? Thanks guys,, and gals

 

The Basslink 2 system has both high and low-level inputs. Because it can accept high-level inputs, you will not need a LOC. The easiest way to install this would be to tap off of the rear 6x9 speaker leads.

Seems from your post that there is a way to add a sub-woofer to the factory bose system. Well, if that is the case it's an awesome news for me. I've asked at a bunch of places including CarToys and they told me that I've have to change my car radio and everything inorder to add a sub and it'll cost more than 1000 bucks ...

Can you please point me in the right direction or give me some details as to how I can add a sub-woofer to the factory audio with bose system on Mazda RX8.

If you already have such a system then can you also tell me how much it costs totally and if the sound quality is way better now?

Of course you can add a sub to the stock setup...

There are two options here...

the output from the back of the stock head unit runs to several amps located throughout the car, the amp of importance for adding a sub is the one mounted in the center of the back dash. You tap into the wires running into the amp for the left and right rear speakers, add an RCA plug and drop that directly to your sub amp's line-level inputs.

Or tap into the wires running from the amp to the rear 6x9s and run those to speaker level inputs on your sub amp. (If your sub amp doesn't have speaker level inputs, you can use a LOC to drop the speaker level outputs to line-out levels. Though there's really no need to do it this way, as you can just tap into the line level as mentioned in the paragraph above)

You'll need to run power and ground cables (as you would for any amplifier installation) and usually a 12v turn-on lead as well. You can tap into the turn-on lead for the rear-deck amplifier as well.

As for my own system, I have zero stock audio components, and yes, the sound is, as you put it, way better. Check my install thread for the full list of equipment in my setup: BMAK's install
