Arrow the best CAI for the money

I am looking at adding a cold air intake to my 8 and am wondering who makes a quality unit and what some of you have seen for improvements.

Comments please.

The best intake is the one that goes outside of the car and into the cockpit where the filter sits infront of the AC vents.

Yep, take that $300.00 and buy springs. Because a CAI for $300.00 is a waste. You get no usable HP.

the stock intake is very well designed. unless your going for sound, theres not much to gain. remove the vfad, one of the screens, and get a k&n drop in.

rb ram air duct + k&n filter

bam.

best CAI for the money.

edit:
nonono.

carbon fiber ram air

+
k&n drop in.

the carbon fiber ram air has the advantage that air does not need to take 2 90 degree turns, thus slowing it down. it goes straight into the intake. the disadvantage is that you 1. may not like the look and/or 2. you have to cut your bumper to install it.

AEM cold air intake. But technically the stock air box is a cold air intake. You'll only pick up a few horsepower from ANY aftermarket intake. The AEM offers a really nice flash under the hood and a nice sound plus its compatible with some FI kits. A new set of springs will get you more noticeable performance than a cold air intake though. This isn't a drag car. And unless you plan of spending $5,000 easily, it never will be.

do you know how much an AEM cold air intake costs new?

because you completely disregarded MY IDEA, which beats it by several hundred dollars and IS NO BETTER than the stock intake when modded with my ideas.

Well, I already have the K&N drop in installed so it sounds like I am more than half way home.

I was looking for ways to add some mileage to the car. More HP was not really the main focus for me.

follow either of my two ideas.

racing beat duct is $135 afaik.

and the cf ram air duct is $105.

tuning, like the cobb accessport, will net you better mileage too. but thats $700+tuning. tuning is free if you buy it from mazdamaniac though.

just tie a block of ice to the manifold and replace it every time it melts.

FFS what is it with all these "what's the best XXXXX" threads? Do people not see the search button at the top anymore?
