Amazing how different.....

my 8 feels with a new right side motor mount and new coils. All I have to do now is wait for my plugs and wires that should be here this week.
The motor mount was ridiculously simple. Took about 30 minutes tops!

It is an 04' with a lil over 40,000 miles. I had a friend out in Iowa fax me a list of dealer serviced items. I bought it at 28,xxx in Oct 07'. It had the engine replaced at like 6,000 miles. Couple sets of plugs by 13,000 and RR light assembly...... stuff like that but, no motor mount replacements. I had been reading how it could cause the nasty vibration and decided it was time to just replace it. Feels like a whole new car. Wish I did it a year ago....... Oh, it also had AP exhaust already installed.

I have 44k miles and just changed my coils and spark plug wires. I did my spark plugs last summer and will change them this weekend.
Coils and spark plug wires made a big difference. I can tell high rpms are smother and I get better mpg too. Guess you have to change them ever 15k miles. Oh well.

I read the DIY motor mount replacement on this site and it made things crazy easy. I bought the right side mount from the closest dealer as I was impatient to wait. It was $126. Worth every penny. 10mm, 12mm and 14mm sockets. Jack stands, jack and a piece of a 2x4 and bamm! Motor mounts done quicker than a Jiffy Lube!
Actually, I think it took longer to do the ignition coils.

If its nearly teeth chattering, I bet its the right side motor mount. I held the old one up to the new one while they were on the bench. There was atleast a 1/2" difference in height. It really made this car completely different sitting at a traffic light. Then when I headed up the highway, everything is just butta. Shifts smoother, rides smoother. Best money I've spent so far is the motor mount.

Its actually very simple. There are only 2 bolts and a nut that hold the engine mount in place. There is a Do It Yourself write up here on the website. You can order it from a vendor here at RX8 Club or call your closest dealer. I'm only 6 miles from a dealer and they had it in stock. $126+tax and 30 mins time. The mount is made from metal and a composite cushioning material.
I used this.... Make sure to not forget about the strut brace.
