13bre swap

Hey everybody, I just wanted to make a few people jealous, here's the engine that's going into my 8. The picture is from when I bought it. I already tore it down, ported the hell out of it, racing 2mm 2piece seals, Pineapple seals, and reassembled it. I'm just missing a few parts to finish it, r85 turbo, I have to fix the transmission from the rx7 which was given to me by my friend at Rotary Xpert, and the fuel system. It should definately be done before christmas. Hope everyone likes.

Should have went with a REW...just my preference. I'm acquiring an REW with full wiring harness and ecu very shortly...

The RE were N/A and turbo'd motors, depending on the model, that came out of 2nd GEN RX-7's, the REW is a twin turbo motor out of a 3rd GEN RX-7.

The RE has smaller stock turbos. The RE has the engine mounts on the middle iron like the FC motors. The RE uses the older style crank angle sensor with actual teeth on it. It also has much larger intake ports than the REW and a better intake manifold, however the exhaust port sleeves are more restrictive because it is a luxury car that is meant to be quiet.

The RE probably has more overall power potential because of the intake manifold and ports, especially if you swap out the exhaust sleeves. Yet the REW has more modern electronics and was purpose-built for a sports car (better engine mounts etc).

Yeah, I swapped out the sleeves and modified them. All RE engines were twin turbo-not NA. I chose the re because of the mounting position was easier the than rew, although it could have been done pretty easy with the rew. It does have much bigger intake ports, but needed alot of porting on the inside, and a much better intake manifold setup. We'll see how it comes out. I'm too afraid to leave the stock transmission in, it's junk mx-5 tranny!

What do you mean? What year was the car that it came off of? Mid 90's. It's nice and new now though!

Nice Cosmo 13B-RE. I plan on using the stock turbos and manifold off of that same engine on my black S4 convertible.

Send me your throttle body and I'll do some work on it.

Nah, I'm using a stock rx7fd throttle body, I don't like the cosmo one-especially since it has the linkage on the backside which doesn't fit in the engine bay, but thanks anyway.

Isn't that illegal ? at least for NY. U're not suppose to put an engine older than what you have.

When I have everything and rip out the old motor, then I'll start posting up some pictures! The swap won't be too hard.

Creature comforts? What's that suppose to mean? I'm using a haltech e6k which I had on my FD before I sold it.
