Bad seller! User: gmcmillan

I recently purchased a headlight form this guy... He sent me a broken in pieces headlight when I was promised one that was newly removed from an RX8. When I contacted him about it, all he said was "All sales final, its not my problem once I ship it."

The dude's a real tool; be careful if you buy from him.

So did you send Alex a copy of the Bill of Lading, plus the other information you have that Purolator's claim process needs?

just by following the mood of this thread I wouldn't buy a thing from you. To the OP, thanks for calling this guy out.

FWIW, as a common courtesy most "sellers" take care of addressing shipment issues. It's called good business.

The point is that you should at least work with him to get it resolved... assuming insurance was paid it shouldn't be that big of a deal and all it's going to take away from you is a couple minutes of your precious life.

Let me try another track since you're not getting it...

**** happens!

It's the steps you take afterwards that define what kind of a person you are. He has every right to be disappointed if the item was damaged during shipment.

There are countless ways in which this can be resolved in an amicable manner. WORK IT OUT, offer a compromise, good gawd man, get over it.

Here's another case of two different sides to the same story

Co-operate and fix it...that's the honorable way to fix it

Pay it forward for the next transaction

Just remember one bad business transaction can ruin 1000 good ones... In ither words, sometimes is better to give a little and the returns could be a lot better... instead of a bad guy thread you might have gotten a GREAT SELLER thread... Think about it, its your name out there. And the truth is at the end it really doesnt matter whos fault it was, your name was still out there and for those who dont follow the thread all the way will only remember you as the BAD seller...

Well said!

I did not have a problem with receiving a damaged headlight; shipping damages are part of life. I manage a very successful aircraft warehouse; we have a great name in the aviation business. Sometimes we ship a product that gets damaged in shipping, it happens, there is nothing that can be done about it. The reason we have a good name is because of the way we handle issues like this. We very quickly take care of the customers needs and want to get issues resolved.

I have nothing wrong with you personally, but you have not handled this in a professional way. Right after I reported that I received a damaged item, you replied with this E-mail.

"Sorry dude all sales final. Ull have to put a claim in with the courier.
How do i know u didnt switch it for your wrecked headlight?"

Putting in a claim with a courier is the shipper’s responsibility… Most freight companies will not allow the receiver to file the claim. (Verified with PayPal.) However, I did call Purolator, and talked to someone who allowed me to file the claim. After working on this over two days, I was informed that you did not insure the shipment; therefore, no refund would be given.

I would rather not open dispute with PayPal, I am sending you an E-mail with an agreement that hopefully we can make.

Sadly no resolution was made... When I opened a claim with Paypal, gmcmillan closed it out without posting any reply. I called Paypal to ask what I could do about this, I was informed that Paypal is not responsible for anything once it has been delivered unless it is purchased off of Ebay.

So, it looks like I lost $200.00 in this deal. Gmcmillan never replied to anything I sent him after I showed him that I have 2 broken headlights and did not switch out my bad one for his 'good one' that was sent.

Personal Story:

I shipped an engine cover to ohio, it arrived smashed.

I refunded the buyer that day.

I entered a claim to UPS, took 6 weeks, but got a full refund for the value of the item.

You know the only time I have been ripped off on a online deal was with another Canadian Vendor, CP Racing. I bought a front strut bar from him that was a piece of junk and did not fit right so I sent it back. He claims he never got it even though it was delivered.

Oh well I just let it (and $200) go and told the story on here. His attitude was about like this guys.

What ever happended to the customer is always right (regardless if they are)?

I guess I'm confused. Why are you trying to handle this through Paypal? You should have contacted your credit card company to request a chargeback. Let them know that you ordered an item online and it arrived broken and that you contacted the seller and they refused to issue a refund or replace the broken item.

It is the shippers responsibility to properly insure an item and to file a claim with the shipping company if it was damaged/lost. He should have already refunded your money because in the end it costs him more to deal with a chargeback.
