I have an '04 Velocity Red RX-8 6 speed GT. I am the original owner, and I took delivery in August of '03. Because of the early delivery, and my love to drive, the car has 75k miles.
About 5k ago, a new engine was put in. At that time I added a new, Racing Beat (Exedy) Stage I clutch, Powerslot Front and Rear Rotors, Hawk HPS Brake pads, Stainless Steel Brake and Clutch lines, and 4 Toyo Proxes 4 tires.
The car has never been in an accident, but it does have the "standard" rock chips.
I have the Navi Package and CD (No Multidisc or MP3)
The only other mods that I have done are a grounding kit (Which I don't believe does anything), and an integrated BlueTooth adapter (Parrot CK3000).
The interior is Black/Red
What do you think this car is worth?
I am going to sell it, unfortunately, as it has become pretty impractical with 2 toddlers!

did you try looking up edmunds for value? they're decently realistic, imho

 

The engine was replaced because coolant leaked into it. When this happened, two months prior to Mazda extending, I "bargained" with Mazda, and they paid half. Two months later, I was able to submit for reimbursement. The dealer also broke the intake manifold due to "carbon buildup" (which I doubt), so that was also replaced.

With all due respect that is way to high. Of course that's California, home of the sub prime mortgages. If you wish to truly sell it, between $10-$12k tops. My local dealership has several '04 GT's with lower mileage for under $15k and are selling new '08's for $26k. The economy and time of year is driving prices. In today's market if you wish to sell you have to suck up your pride and lower your prices.

 

With all due respect, I haven't proposed a price yet. My original post was "what is it worth?"
I am just trying to put feelers out, so if I do decide to sell, I can make an educated post.
I know that times are hard, and the fall/winter is not the best time to sell a rear wheel drive sports car, so i may wait.

I just sold mine, and it had 20k less miles and it was the GT edition too. My guess, is around $13,500. i know u hate to hear that, but thats the honest answer

 

No, I would definitely accept that...Carmax offered me $7500! I would even take $12.5k
It sucks, but I have accepted the fact that having a car that encourages you to drive in combination with a bad economy ruins resale value!

 

With the economy the way it is now... No more than 13k IMO.

 

are you sure you HAVE to sell it? will you use the $ to buy like a minivan or something? if you don't HAVE to sell it, just keep it. is it really that bad w/ the kids?

 

I've been shopping for the last month at least and there are several newer, lower mileage ones going in the $15-18k neighborhood in california. And also one with 30k on the clock for $14k.
