I want to replace the rear shocks of my 07 6 mt with Mazdaspeed shocks, while keeping the oem springs. My primary concern is fitment. Will the oem spring fit on the MS shock? I'm hoping to eliminate some of the rear float without spending a bunch of money. I know this may unbalance the suspension, but I feel the sport suspension is currently unbalanced with the front being a lot stiffer than the rear. I don't track the car and driving is spirited street only. Any input is welcome.

Not sure what you mean by " rear Float"...but stiffer springs on the rear...and stock fronts is asking for oversteer problems

Can't answer your question about the MS springs though.

Why don't you buy Racing beat or Tein springs and replace all 4....that will keep things balanced

 

Yes, the shocks will fit.

The problem is the rear shocks are very weak and wear outright away.

Your better off getting Tociko or Koni's from Racing Beat.

 

"Float" as in the underdamped rear. I want to keep everything else stock and just replace the rear shocks only with MS shocks. So I take it the standard rear springs will fit on the MS rear shock?

 

Yes, they fit. The mazdaspeed shocks have the same exact mounting points as stock. The problem is that changing out just the rear like dannobre said will lead to alot of oversteer since the rear will be alot stiffer than the front.

I would go for a full swap of your shocks. Like Razz said, the tokicos or konis would be great. They are both adjustable, so you can put the rear stiffer than the front since that is what you seem to be going for and if you don't like it, its just a turn of a **** to change the balance, and you will still have better shocks than stock on all four corners.

I would keep in mind that the Konis need to be removed to be adjusted in the rear (fronts are fine) and the Tockicos come with an adjustment cable for the rear so they don't need to be removed to be adjusted.
