Brake Pad Shims

I'm currently installing Hawk HPS pads on my car. The service manual says to put the pad shims that came with the car back on new pads, but the Hawk pads seem to come with their own shims attached to the pads and the old shims don't seem to fit. Therefore, do I leave the stock shims off and just put the Hawk pads on? These are the backing plate shims behind the pads, not the clips that go on the side of the pads and hold them in place.

Well you got your answer but I'll add my "leave them off" for good measure
