To fill out the wheel wells a little. BTW, I would love to do a search but you can't search the number 35 or +35 or 35+.

Make a post and the "similar threads" can find it. Lame.

Not good looking wheels but 18x8.5 +35 apparently

Go a little farther to a +38

The fronts are close to what you are looking for(38). The rears are even more aggresive(43)

^ The smaller the number, the further from the middle of the car the edge of the wheel is. +35 is more aggressive than +38 or +43 (stock is +50). The reason that your wheels sit more flush is a combonation of offset and wheel width. 18x8 +35 will look fairly aggressive.

That would be less aggressive than what he is looking at.... The bigger the number the more they stick in. Stock is +50, so a +35 is out of the fender 15mm more than stock. Your +43 is only 7mm away from stock.

I am a wheel noob.
Thank you for clearing that up.

BTW -
The fronts are 8.5" wide, and the rears are 9.5" wide.
I am sure that will make a difference as well.

If you started with a 50 mm offset and added a 7 mm spacer you would have a 43 mm off set. Simple as that. A spacer width subtracts from the original offset.

Me too, but black. The +48 that Tire Rack lists for us doesn't interest me.

Most spacers 15mm and up have studs built in to them. So you use the cars studs to bolt the spacers on, then bolt the wheel on to the spacers studs. A 25mm spacer will allow the wheel studs to sit flush with the spacer. 15mm and 20mm will leave some of the stock stud sticking out from the spacer so the wheel has to have a cavity on the backside .The stock wheels do have this cavity, although I haven't measured how deep it is. I can check when I get home.

User Creekhail just posted pics of his RX-8 with H&R spacers (although he didn't specify what size they are). They look really good though:

I am still deciding between black or silver finish. I'm getting my brake calipers painted red this week. I have stock rims right now, so I will be able to get a good gauge of how "silver rims + red calipers" will look.

Actually, he'll only be half an inch further in than you. Offset is measured from the wheel centerline. If your 9.5" wheel had a zero offset, it would measure 4.75" (9.5"/2) from the hub surface to the outer lip. To factor in offset, subtract the offset from half the wheel width.

9.5" wheel w/ +35mm offset: 9.5"/2 = 4.75" - 1.38" (35mm) offset = 3.37" from lip to hub surface.

8.5" wheel w/ + 35mm offset: 8.5"/2 = 4.25" - 1.38" (35mm) offset = 2.87" from lip to hub surface.

3.37" - 2.87" = .50"

Stock wheel is 8" wide w/ + 50mm offset, so for comparison's sake: 8"/2 = 4" - 1.97" (50mm) = 2.03" from lip to hub surface.
