No Power Steering

Had my car at the dealer for the last two weeks getting a new battery and replacing the oil metering pump as it was leaking real bad. Got home on Friday and took it to the store and about half way there, the steering got weird. Turning right was overly easy and turning left was very stiff. So I parked it and went in for a while, when I came out and started it the power steering light on the console was on. And I could not steer left or right without the car moving.

So, before I take it back to the dealer in the morning is there anything that I can look for or do that might correct this? Fuse, connector, etc..

Thanks.

I think this gets talked about once a week.
Try using the SEARCH feature... simply type "no power steering" or "power steering loss".
I'll even help out further... go into the advance search (click on search, then click advance search) and under "search in forum(s)" click on "Tech & Performance" to help narrow down the results to that area. Then type "no power steering" or "power steering loss" in the keyword's field.
You'll find a wealth of information.

there is a tsb for the power steering wiring harness. and also a new part to fix it..

make the dealer / search or do there job..

if you are out of warranty. it involves solder.

Nice...

Sometimes I feel like whenever someone attempts to start a new thread, a pop-up should appear asking, "Have you tried to search for similar threads on this topic?"
Then when they click NO, it'll automatically direct them to the search page!

Yes... I've put a lot of thought into this...

.....But not before asking them, "Are you sure?"

Sorry for the post without doing the search, but it was late last night/early this moring when I posted it. I had been doing some searches on some other things and thought I had done a search of this. Anyway, found the connector and I am going to disconnect and clean it and see if that fixes it.

Got it working, but found that while the car was in the shop last week that they had removed my revi intake and not put it back in correctly. They did not bolt it down plus the airfilter was dented and creased in several spot. Don't think that it will affect the filter, but I just wish they would have told me that they had issues with getting in/out of the car.

our cars dont have hydrolic power steering like most others, its a manual box with an electic motor to assist it. so yes, unpluggin the motor would make it a lot harder to turn, but your also fighting aginst the motor..

Be advised that myself and others have been down this road. The connector sucks and it's quite possible your problem will return. The radiator overflow sprays on it, for one thing. You can redirect that tube outlet by placing some plastic tubing over it. But in the end the only cure for me was to remove the upper connector completely and direct-solder the wires. There is also a revised part as mentioned, if you want to spend the money. There's no real need for a quick-disconnect at that location, imo, as you can still remove harness at the other end should you need to replace the radiator, etc. To me this makes the solder solution the better choice. Had I searched earlier I could have avoided 2 fruitless trips to the dealer who told me they didn't notice the car pulling at all, but it might be my tires. Liars and idiots.
