forgive the noobness but what is it for?

 

It allows you to hook up pretty much anything to the stock Nav screen.

You can hook a PS3, computer, Dvd player up to it and it will display the picture on the Rx8's stock screen.

is this brand new and is it plug and play? if not what else do i need to buy to get this to work?

 

It's used. It's requires 4 wires spliced to install(Very simple) Everything's included.

 

dont need the pie adaptor or anything? and is this the 4 video output version?

 

also i was looking around and they usually come with a diff remote.. is this the older one with a tv tuner?

 

No Pie Adapter is needed. It's plug and play with the supplied wire harness.
As for the remote, this is the one that came with it.
There's no TV tuner. However this is the S-Video Model

 

one more quest... to watch dvds will i have to get another dvd player or the one that reads the nav disk work?
