newly turboed

First post though I would wait untill I was turboed!!!

Had a coulple questions for the turbo experts before I get tuned on Friday

Just put the kit on last week. My Rx8 is a 05 6mt geddy kit, greddy rs bov, greddy boost guage, and agency power full exaust. Runs pretty good on the base map but a couple of small issues. I kno its tuned for stock exaust. I have only gone wot 3 times seems to surge or detonate so i back off right away. Power feels good though rips the tires loose. Part throttle is awsome but if i let off the gas with the rpms up the idle goes down to 500rpm and sometimes stalls. If i downshift and let the clutch out at 2,000 rpm its ok like stock. Turbo spools instantly very responsive. I originally had the bov pretty loose(could here it still going off after letting off the gas and intial woosh). I tightened it and fixed that but still has the stalling issue although seemed to help a little. How should the bov be adjusted. Should it just fluttering if in vaccum and whoosh when boosting. I adjusted it like that today about 4 mm tread showing above adjusting nut. Was at about 10mm almost all the way loose I think it may need to be looser. Im getting tuned on friday by a awsome tuner but i kinda want to get the bov adjustment somewhat close before it gets tuned. I also just ordered all ngk trailing spark plugs from mazsport.

Also for those on the fence about turboing your 8 I would its just out of control Im very pleased and I had a 500rwhp 03 cobra before my 8.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Ditch that turbo renesis motor and put that 500rwhp cobra motor on it. You will be happy...

I think fix #2 for the the wastegate signal will solve my stalling problem. Could it be surging to the extent that when i go wot it causes my above mentioned concern kind of sounds like chu chu chu. I thought its cause i have exaust and race pipe so not enough fuel. Also anyone kno how to set the bov correctly?

The base map on the EMU is crap. Get it tuned.

And The Renesis (and more rotaries) HATE detonation. So I would advise not dabbling into the world of pre-ignition. Run rich and conservative until you can get it to your tuner.

What are you AFR's when it surges?

Maybe can try to remove the blow off valve and plug the hole up. Or, try to mod the fuel map for the blow off valve.

I can't find a blow off valve on the original list http://greddy.com/img/PHP/products/pdf/851.pdf

I hope your plug is still dry as normal.

Couple of q's to check it's plumbed properly - the chu-chu sound could be compressor surge.

Where are you taking your vacuum signal for the BOV?

Where is the wastegate signal for the turbo coming from?

wastegate to intake manifold nipple down by turbo

The emanage ultimate, bov, and boost guage sensor are all on the same vaccum line plumed to the vaccum fitting behind the throttle body

It runs great really smooth transfering into boost. I just dont wot cause the noise its either detonation or surge. Idle good, crusie and part throttle boost good. No crazy backfiring either. No check engine light

Cars healthly 18k miles. I cleaned the plugs but i ordered all ngk trailing for the tune.

Again thanks for the input.

Your wastegate signal may be the culprit - at the intake nipple it would virtually never open the wastegate. The signal needs to come from the compressor outlet, before the intercooler, so it will regulate the pressure there instead of on the other side of the closed throttle plate.

Your compressor is more than fully loaded, all the time, and surging. The chuff-chuff sound is a symptom.

Poor design by Greedy......

I agree with Stealth. Try getting a "QuickTap" fitting from ATP turbo and installing it in the coupling at the turbo compressor outlet. Then plumb your wastegate off of that.

Are you venting your bov to atmosphere or did you recirculate it?

did u upgrade all the ancillary components to properly support the additional pressure the turbo's going to put on the engine? if not... u'll be getting a new engine in about 15k+ miles. from what i've read on this site, the renesis is a high compression engine already and not geared for the kinda pressure & strain the turbos going to add. so unless u go force induction correctly and upgrade all the components properly, you've basically installed a time bomb. more than a few guys on this board have joined the new engine club from the greddy. this is just what i've read.

Stock Injectors are normally good up until 290~ rwhp so other then suggestions that he was given it seems like he will be all right.

Are you running a turbo without checking AFR's? Bad decision IMHO. Cracking a seal is the last thing you want to do.
