well any mod like that all depends on how good of a tuner u go too.. if u go to a bad tuner its an awful mod.. if u go to a good tuner its a mod u can really enjoy.. either way its goin to put more wear on your motor.. just do your research and u should be ok.. and once u boost any car say the kit costs 5gs id have about 7gs put aside just incase

so really theres no point in putting a turbo in it if your not going to use it.
Its just going to make your engine wear out faster?

If you're not going to use it, why would you?

A conservative, properly tuned kit will add minimal wear, but you do increase your changes of engine problems and the rate that they progress and thus would want to have money set aside to deal with that if needed.

the only reason anyone would boost an rx8 imo is a few reasons 1. they want a quicker car for maybe the track.. or 2. they want a car they can drive around and maybe suprise a few 350z,evo,sti owners and so on...
as for the turbo wearing out the motor yea its gonna wear out the motor no matter how good of a tune u get thats y its important to do research on who tunes ur car... maybe you should ask yourself y u wanna boost the rx8.. cause i think u may be a bit confused on it

you would have to go to a refilling station to find out how much it is to refill. also some people use a nitrous spray into the front of the intercooler to further lower to temps of the air going into the engine

i think it depends on your taste. one of my friend in this forum have had greddy turbo stock since 26000 miles, and now he is 68000 miles, more than that, its' still running (knock the wood). but i think, it will depend on your maintainance. if you take care of it, do the right things for the turbo before you install them, get good tuner, i think it will last long (of course not as long as stock), but at least 3 years. i beleive depending on you. o well, it's just because of my friend did it, that 's why it motivates me to do turbo.
everything i said just according to my opinion.

if your a complete car n00b *not saying you are* a greddy rx8 probably isnt for you. The require alot of attention, something simple that you dont notice can turn into a nightmare. I have no regrets with my turbo 8. Its definately not my daily driver but its reliable enough to be.
The only thing that sucks is using 93 octane at 3.50 a gallon.

but when i go full throttle my gas woes go away pretty fast.

a turbo can be good for your 8. you want to do a LOT of research before you buy and install. As Varney said, you have to take care of it really good. The main reason your engine could go bad is a bad tune. if you have the kit tuned well, your engine should be happy.
