Greddy Exhaust

Just got my Greddy installed by RPM (RPM Motorsports) and it is awesome! Sounds so cool and looks way better than stock. Joe is a super guy, answered lots of my questions about the 8 and did great work. I highly recommend him to anyone in the Toronto, Kitchener, London, etc. area. And while I was there, there were a bunch of RX7's and an RX8 to check out.

Thanks RPM!

That’s why I asked; ZeroBio seems to modding it non-stop

It usually takes me two weeks of research and contemplation to go back to the fact that my car is leased and therefore I am saved from the modding bug (that and lack of funds)

Thanks RPM for posting those pics!

I know I've been going a bit crazy with mods in such a short time. I just figured I'd get in over my head quickly and then deal with the financial repurcussions (which are getting rather severe!). Although I did it all quick, I was lurking here and elsewhere for a long time beforehand so when I got the car, I already knew pretty much what I wanted to do. Not TOO MUCH impulse buying, haha.

I am really happy with the greddy. This is my first exhaust mod so I can't compare to anything else and don't really know anyone in my area with exhaust mods to compare, aside from the utube vids. I originally wanted the borla but when RPM said he had a greddy and would install (great price, btw), I jumped at it and saved a bunch of $$. And if I get 2 hp extra, I'll take it.

As far as the eibachs go ... hmm, yeah it's settled even more. Went back to the dealership today and compared yet again to stock and definitely see a difference of maybe 1" or maybe even more. But I was a bit screwed for an alignment since it was pretty much off. I tried tons of places in town and nobody had the right equipment to do it. So back at the stealership, they did it BUT they aren't used to alignments on the new 8 with aftermarket springs. They didn't have the specs so the guy had to "eye ball" it to some extent. He did a great job using all the fancy equipment but I was stressed that they didn't have the ability to do a spot-on job. This is nuts! Where are we supposed to go when we get our 8's lowered? Maybe lots of cool places in T.O. (canada) but not here in London. I told mazda to "get with the program" cause I know there'll be other guys with springs and they need to cater to us to. This was their first new 8 /w springs so they learned but I really hope they can get specs for lots of springs and some more experience to deal with the mod gang.

Thanks all and good luck with your 8's.

I guess the only benefits are that it will never rust, and possibly weight?

I'm sure the springs provide much more fun factor Finding alignment shops that are good is very hard. Usually the ones with racing affiliations are the best and will know what they are doing, esp if they are racing your type of car...

Are you kidding me? London sucks. :P The mechanic had to eyeball it? It's not rocket surgery with lowering springs.

Ah....Looks like you are happy with your springs alot more now.

I hope you are not having problems regarding your springs settling after the alignment.

Should of came to T.o. Alot of good shops here with laser alignment.

Regarding the alignment, I guess in the back of my mind I never really expected mazda to do a perfect job or even be all that willing to try. I had some bad experiences with toyota when I got my celica lowered and after that, they were always hesitant to do suspension work. So I went to mazda with only moderate expectations and like I said, they didn't have the specs for the eibachs and could only compare it with stock so it was weird. However, I said that I might be able to get specs someplace (here?) and the mechanic was willing to do it again later. Meanwhile, the car feels great, no problems. But yes, I should have gone to a racing-affiliated shop but hard to find here (one or two) and they are so busy, hard to book a time so i just did it. But I'm going to search for a good shop here and stick with them for mods.

And barring that, I seriously might go to toronto or somewhere else if I find a good shop and it's really worth it. Thanks for the advice.

Take care.

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think there are alignment specs specific to Eibach springs. They should align it to stock specs unless you're looking for some negative camber.

You are correct.

They are suppose to get it as close to factory specs as possible.

I didn't know that and apparently neither did the mechanic. I will let him know that and see if it's worth re-doing. Currently, it's very close as it is and the car drives great. Only a very small amount of -'ve camber, almost zero toe and caster (I think).

Thanks for the advice.
