I have "officially joined the waiting list as I put in my order for an Rx-8 yesterday.

I ordered a Velocity Red GT 6spd w/moonroof, spoiler, front and rear crests.

 

Great news... when will you be taking delivery?

 

Details... What dealer, expected date, driving in winter, NAV... I'm guessing it's a spring order?

I'm assuming you live in Oshawa. It will be nice to have another RX-8 here in the area from the forum. Ron Jeremy is the closest to us right now in Pickering. Welcome to the family!

Officially my order is for a 2005 Rx-8, 6spd GT VR with the red/black leather interior w/moonroof. rear spoiler, and f/r crests.

Most likely there will be a spring delivery, and if one comes in with my specs then I'll get it then, but if not then I'll wait. For sure my order will be placed in the Sept 2004 build (for a 2005 model), if nothing comes in. I ordered it from Avante Mazda, as my friend knows them well and the sales guy was straight up w/me. But he said since they are splitting into 2 locations, they may get a bigger alotment to fill the new dealership. So chances are good that I'll get it before Sept/Oct of next year.

I won't be driving it in the winter, and don't mind waiting until Spring or Fall to get it. I'll have more time to save some money and Mazda will have time to work out the bugs in the car (I hope.)

 

Hey, sweet. I ordered mine from Avante Mazda as well in Richmond Hill. The dealer is like 3 minutes from my house.

I'm expecting spring delivery too for Titanium 6MT with moonroof. I've heard horror stories of greedy dealers selling advance orders cuz someone else offered above MSRP. So I'm wondering if it would be realistic or even possible to ask for the VIN number as soon as the car is in production? That way they would be less likely to just give away my car and keep me waiting since they have my deposit. I was told that I was the 6th order for 2005 model at Avante.

This is a great car, and I DO believe the hype :p

 

FYI. I was offerred a few cars with this spec around the GTA if you're interested. Ranging from delivery in November to January.

Hope you have better luck with Avante than I did. They gave me the speech on this being a very rare car and that I would have to order one for March delivery at the earliest. Once I told them that I already had offers of cars for delivery in October and November they backed right off.

A few days later they called me and asked if I was interested in a silver GT for immediate delivery. Funny that !!!!

 

Hey Taffy, you're right about Avante Mazda. Like I posted in another thread, the sales guy pretty much said, everybody wants this car and nobody has it, so why should he give me any freebies? Although he was a bit of a jerk, his dealership does has earned the President's Club Award (yeah, i look for those kinds of things). So that's where I was torn.

I would prefer to get the car in the spring, as it will be a 2005, and I will have time to perfect my driving skills for this sweet new ride. Besides, I want to find out more about how people are handling the winter driving situation. I'm axious to get the car sooner, but I have so many more reasons to wait as you can see. People seem very helpful at this site.

 

How many sleeps is that? The good side of this is that you do have time to save money, and for Mazda to iron the bugs out. Waiting though will be the hard part...

 

Waiting is the hardest part. I found an Rx-8 in VR 6spd w/moonroof at a dealership that was for sale (person who ordered dropped out) and had to turn it down, cuz I don't want to waste the warranty with it sitting in the garage the first 6 months.

And the dealer (in Peterborough) said he had 2 rx-8's on the lot.
