tires

I need to get new tires...and since my bro works at costco I'll probably just go to him to get them. I had a question about which tire to get though, I basically have two choices:

BFG KDW2's
Michelin Pilot Sports

BFG's come out about $60 less per tire...so which ones do you guys recommend?

What do you want in the tire. ROad grip, noise, long treadwear, comfort?

Heard lots of great things about the Pilots. Supposed to be one of the best tires you can put on an 8. As you said, they are more expensive than KDW2 and will wear out faster - kinda depends on whats important to you.
I did not get good recommendations on KDW2 - was told there are better options at that price - Toyo T1R and Falken are 2- And Kuhmo's are supposed to be superior to KDW2 and cost less.

I don't know...I want good grip and I heard the road noise on the KDW's is almost unbearable...but I don't really want to replace my tires every year.

I guess I'll probably end up with the pilots....I'll see if they have the other ones you mentioned too.

Thanks!

Seriously, look at the Toyo T1R/Falken's/Kuhmo's. You will pay the price you would with the KDW2 (or less) and get the same wear. Any of the above three are supposed to grip as well or better than the KDW2.
Pilots, Goodyear Eagles and the PZeros are gonna run you several bills more. All are supposed to be great, but with install-balance-and you should align - 1200+.

You can get Kuhmo SPT's from Tirerack at 100$ each and most people who have them rave about them.
I love my new 245/40/18 Toyo T1R. Still breaking them in, but anything that would ever get these things to loose tractions would way get you arrested.
