A/C comes on at start
I have an 07 and 1 out of 5 times the AC will turn on by itself at startup. Not a big issue but was wondering if anybody else's did this and did it turn into an issue? The AC is not turned on when I shut it off prior to the next start.
Thanks

I have an 05 and mine does the same thing. I thought that maybe the last flash would fix it but it didn't. I've tried the gas pedal trick as well as the odometer reset trick but it still does it. I thought I was going crazy! Also I swear I can hear the AC compressor turning on and off when I am in the drive thru. This is without the AC or the defrost on. I don't feel cold air though.

I have the same problem with my 05 as well. At first I thought it may have been some "smart" feature that turns on A/C to help with defogging the windows. But I don't think that's the case anymore as it just seems to turn on for no reason.

It has been discussed.
The AC compressor kicks in, even with the environmental controls set to "heat, if you are blowing air to the floor or to defrost. The AC is not cooling when the heat is on, but instead it acts as a dehumidifier. This really helps defrosting the windows and keeping floor moisture from causing frosting as well.

I have an 07 w/ Auto and I took mine back to the dealership as a complaint. They couldn't get it to repeat.
I'm an Engineer, so I performed some data analysis. Here is what I found:
When I have the MODE set to floor only, the compressor would cycle intermittently as a humitity control (by design). Normally, the A/C light would remain off, but once out of 5 or so starts, the A/C light would remain on, but the A/C would perform its same intermittent cycle.
When I switched MODE to Dashboard vents & Floor combo (no humidity control), I did not get the intermittent A/C light once every 5 or so. Problem cured.
Got back in the car a few days ago after letting my wife borrow, and I see the A/C light illuminated. Checked MODE. She changed it to floor only as she didn't like the vents blowing air in her face.
As a side note, I have noticed that my right foot (accelerator) tended to get cold during winter driving up here in the NorthEast. A little investigation revealed the floor duct outlet blowing air in a direction away from my foot. I am making a thin cardboard tab to act as a deflector to divert more air to the firewall direction and should resolve my "cold feet" issue.

My '06 does the same thing. I did the easter egg mod so the AC doesn't come on when I tap defrost, but it still does the AC light about every 5 or 6 days, usually on the defrost/floor setting. Annoying, more than anything. It usually happens when the temperature is cold in the morning, then I go out at lunch to my car.

my 2004 does the same thing. No matter if the fan switch is on or off, a/c switch on or off, or whatever the setting is...the a/c compressor kicks in as soon as i start the car. I got annoyed and pulled the relay under the hood. No more problem. When it get hot this summer i'll put the relay back in.
