Weird grinding....

i have an 04 6mt and within the past few days when i clutch in , down shift , clutch still disengaged, i cant put the gar into the lower gear and this loud hellish grinding noise along with violent grinding vibrations in the shifter occur. Im going to bring it to the dealership but what do you guys think it is? it wasnt doing this for weeks before hand, i culd be in 4th , clutch in downshift to second to go around a turn no problem but now it just grinds and scares the **** out of me for my cars health.

Yeah, take it in to have them diagnose the problem. There have been some reports of problems with the clutch/pressure plates and with shift forks. Do a search on this forum and read about these problems to be better prepared to deal with the service department. Otherwise, depending on how competent and customer friendly they are, they may give you a hard time and claim you abused the clutch/tranny. Good luck!
