Big Brake Kits

I tried searching for this info but was unable to acquire the information I am looking for and am wondering from those who actually have own(ed) the products .

I am looking at purchasing a big brake kit for my baby and am looking at the following:

racingbrake
brembo
stoptech

I am leaning towards the racing brake now but do not have information concerning the brembo or stoptech and their weights/performance. Does anyone who has these systems have the performance/weight specs or have any suggestions/critiques to offer? I am also curious as to the brembo and stoptech brakes fit with aftermarket wheels. What offset do they tolerate? Thank you.

Are you looking at big brake systems for performance or looks? Reason I ask is if you search through some of the threads you'll notice a few pro race teams (I forget the names) use the stock calipers and rotors---and that's even after horsepower upgrades to the 8. That, to me, says a lot.

Personally, I'd like to upgrade my rotors purely for aesthetic reasons. After running a few days on a track, the OEM set-up is fine except the pads, lines and fluid.

But hey, if you've got the $3000 burning a hole in your pocket, why not huh? A four piston caliper sitting on a slotted rotor sure looks sweet!

A combination of both. I would say 60% performance 40% good looks.

I'd go with the setup on racing beat's site. Upgraded rotors and pads with better fluid and SS lines. Should cost a lot less than a big brake kit, perform as good, and look decent if you paint you calipers.

I have the RB kit.....It has been great. The rotors wear like iron I probably saved enough using the 2PC rotors this summer instead of stock...to almost justify the price difference.

They really make a big difference in the modulation and "feel" of the brakes. Don't expect a huge difference in stopping power...but they weigh way less...and less is golden in the unsprung weight category

if you are concerned about wheel clearance I recommend the RacingBrake RX-8 front BBK designed for Enkei wheels, which they offer as an alternative to their standard RX-8 front BBK. It will work for wheels that have less caliper/spoke clearance than the OE wheels and positions the calipers/rotors further inboard than any other kit.

StopTech is just the opposite, even the OE wheels will not clear the StopTech caliper position, you will need aftermarket wheels designed with lots of extra spoke clearance or longer wheel studs with spacers
